I wanted to try out the format before I did a larger event, so I was wondering what
players liked/disliked about it before I got my things ready. Anything totally
messed up? Anything that really worked?

Standard steamroller but at the minimum player level (5-8) in a tiny darkened store.

I apologize for my ignorance... but I still have no idea what your talking about when you say 'steamroller'.
Do you mean single eliminations? As in you loose and are steamrolled, and you no longer play in the tournament?
My FNMs have been doing that when we have the minimum players available and I prefer it to having to go to the organizer and saying 'I drop' after losing a sufficient amount to DQ me from winning any kind of extra prizes.

I don't like that most of the missions are 'move here and win on turn 2' because certain armies/casters suck at holding areas and other are really good. I would prefer all the missions be caster kill for a major win and VP's for a minor if you can't get the caster.

2012- stopped caring
Nova Open 2011- Orks 8th Seed---(I see a trend)
Adepticon 2011- Mike H. Orks 8th Seed (This was the WTF list of the Final 16)
Adepticon 2011- Combat Patrol Best General |

Steamroller is the official privateer press organized play tournament format. I'm still learning
what that means since I've avoided them.

I'm with Bat Manuel that the win condition on the first player's turn 3 is my biggest gripe. I actually had the ear of the mission/event developer for privateer press at Gencon and forgot to ask why it was setup this way. :(
I like the missions and the timing rules. I just wish that the win conditions triggered on the end of the second player's third turn.

Thanks.
Unfortunately I can't change the rules and call it Steamroller, but know that
people are talking about changes for Steamroller 5 and that might be one
of them (no promises).
Good to know this will be a problem in advance, though.
