Subject: How is the Land Raider a Light Vehicle?

This has to do with the deffrolla issue. All those who don't want to go there steer clear of the thread! People sometimes use as a defense of the deffrolla in a ram that line from the codex, where it states that some wagons will use their rams to run over light vehicles... Except a land raider assault tank isn't light by any stretch of the imagination! I imagine actually, that if a Deffrolla battlewagon really tried to ram a Land Raider the rolla would just go 'kerunch' against it's hull. Sure, when the rest of the wagon came crashing in, there might be a hole in the Land Raider, but the ram would be krumped. I think there should be some kind of compromise though....what is a 'light vehicle' in 40K? NOTE~! This is not a 'rules' debate, I'm just curious, what is a light vehicle? AV10? Skimmer? Fast? Rhino?

This is the Background forum. I think you want the General Discussion forum.
My memory tells me that somewhere, and perhaps somewhen, there was a statement in the rulebook equating bikes with light vehicles. So it made sense from a perspective of the rule representing the background (or the other way around...) that Deff Rollas could squish light vehicles because they can squish bike units.
Tactics-wise, I consider light vehicles to be AV10 & A11, still weak enough to be taken out by anti-personnel weaponry. Medium vehicles would be AV12 & AV13, while Heavy vehicles would be AV14, but these are kind of vague and can be skewed by such things as additional defensive wargear like Holofields.

Mmmm yes i have always thought this. In 40k there only seems to be 2 types of tank (or walker of flyer for that matter) these are tank and super heavy tank. Shouldn't it be Tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks and super heavy tanks? (i rate a land raider as a heavy tank)

And heaven forbid if the Marine would also happen to have an intimidating looking, vertical scar. Then you're surly boned. Those guys are the worst. Not a chance I'd say.
