As someone who used to visit the GW site several years ago for terrain-building ideas, but now a relatively new 40K guy, I am wondering where all the hobby content went? Is it just me- or didn't the site used to have much more additional articles on painting, hobby and lore? Maybe its just my perception but I feel like there use to be a lot more "meat" there for hobbyists.

there is still some stuff, but a lot of the old stuff is gone, as is all of Black Gobbo.
The current site is built purely for sales, which isn't a bad idea, but I think it's also become less of a destination for veteran hobbyists.

I am also befuddled by the "not optimized for Internet Explorer" greeting from the GW site. Now I know there are some Mozilla and Safari folks out there, but what percentage of users come to the site with IE loaded?- the vast majority I am sure. For a site 'built for sales' that seems utterly silly. Does someone at GW have a sophmorish anti-Microsoft beef or are they just not thinking?

I don't have any numbers, but from my experience a hell of a lot of people have switched to Firefox in the last few years. Actually, I was one of the last ones to do so, and presently I know nobody - no hyperbole! - who uses IE anymore.
Edit: Ah, and the GW site... it's not so nice anymore, unfortunately. I liked the old one, which was more like a real website, not a webshop. But whatever There's a lot of good pages dedicated to 40K.

It just surprises me that a company that is so cutting edge in terms of its product line and marketing, has such a "ho hum" website. I mean, I like the pics of the figures, but you'd expect more content to embellish game systems that are 20 years old by now.
As for "most people I know have switched to Firefox"- that may be so for you, but I guarantee that the vast majority of visitors to the GW site are using IE- I'd love to know why they aren't optimized for the world's most used browser.

It's a webstore now. I refuse to call it the GW "website" as there's nothing of any value on it whatsoever, it's just a shopping cart.
