I'm a 40k player interested in using the Gondor Ranger models to convert an army of Tallarn Imperial Guard, and i was wondering if anyone knew if the Gondor Rangers come on the sprue with their limbs already attached? I can't find any pictures of the sprues anywhere, so i'd really appreciate all the help i can get on the matter!

Faramir's Rangers are metal. I haven't assembled any, but I believe they are all one-piece castings. The Dunedain Rangers andthe Grey Compnay, also metal, are a mixed bag- a few have one weapon arm that needs to be attached.

The Rangers of Middle Earth are a plastic boxed set. Some are a single piece, whie others (spearmen & swordsmen) have a separate arm. It's been a while since I put mine together.

Also, they are significantly smaller than 40K guardsmen, more like true 25mm scale than GW's usual 'heroic' 28mm. You'll have that problem with almost all the LotR plastic sets- the only one that comes close to 28mm is the new Army of the Dead.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Thank you SO MUCH for letting me know that before i invested in the the entire army! I think i will probably still get a box of the Rangers of Middle-Earth, just to see how much smaller they really are. (Because i'm an american, a 3mm difference in height means nothing to me!)

I will probably look into stretching the models out with some GS, or giving them all dynamic, elevating bases to buff them out a little. I'll open up a painting and modeling blog when i actually start the project, assuming i ever figure out how to.

there is quite a size difference, i put saruman up against a guardsman, and the guardsman looked like a mirine in comparison
