So I pop into my local GW last Tuesday (01/09/09) and ask if I can reserve/pre-order a copy of Space Hulk that I can pick up on Saturday. I'm directed to their website ordering point and told to preorder it from there and it will arrive on Saturday.

Back I go on Saturday and it hasn't arrived yet. No problem I suggest, for there is a tower of Space Hulk boxes before me. Why don't I just take one of those and you can put my copy into your stock when it arrives?

This is not allowed I politely raise eyebrows and they offer to phone mail order just to make sure my copy is definitely coming. They do and it is apparently, but not until next Friday (11/09/09), ten days after I ordered the thing

Now as you can see by my laughing Orkmoticon, I am not remotely annoyed by this because,

1. It is my Christmas present so I can't open it until 25/12/09
2. I was in town anyway
3. I cracked and bought a "security" copy from another store later in the day. If mine doesn't arrive, I shall collect a refund. If it does arrive, the "security" copy will be resold.

At this second store, they said the problems were because their computer systems oversold by 700 copies in the middle of the night on Wednesday and they had to recall these 700 copies from their stores.

GW. You have to smile

Yeah you do, my local GW got 25 copies 'requisitioned' out of thier 90 for that very reason.

Reading this is just unbelievable.

sidenote My FLGS ordered and received 106 copies of Space Hulk

Stores in the states actually had an easier time getting the copies they needed, than in the rest of the world. I ended up getting 140 copies between my two shops. Many pre-sold, the rest trickling out the door. I really wonder if they will last until Christmas season.
