Hi. This just occured to me but Brother valencio is described as part of squad lorenzo but he is always played as part of squad gideon. Has anyone else noticed this? And does anyone have any idea why?

I saw a thread on this on 'whingeseer'. Basically it woukd appear that as the first 6 missions were pretty much lifted wholesale from the original then they got confused and forgot to change the mission descriptions to 'one marine with chainfist and storm bolter'. I would say that from a narrative perspective there is nothing to stop you fielding the squad as the fluff describes - the chainfist counts as a power fist in combat anyways and the ability to destroy doors for free with it is hardly game breaking in terms of balance.

That makes sense. and there I was saying that Squad Gideon was short on numbers and so Squad lorenzo lent them valencio and rescued a marine from lots of genestealers on the way. on a related note if Valencios the newbie how come he gets the specialized weapon? personally I will just say he found it and Sergeant Lorenzo/Gideon said it would come in usefull and he should keep it but what does everyone else think.

Well, as I said there is nothing really stopping you fielding the squad as the fluff describes it. The fact that the missions don't describe him as being in Lorenzo squad is down to an oversight on their part rather than a a result of any game balancing. Including the chainfist in the squad does not really change the dynamic that much - yes the chainfist can detsroy doors automatically but its hardly going to unbalance the game in the marines favour. Personally this is the way that I would play as I love the narrative flow of the missions and the novel (gawd help me yes I bought the novel and I REALLY liked it) and I REALLY like the biogs for each marine. Plus Valencio HAS to be in squad Lorenzo, as Lorenzo saved his life and he feels honour bound to repay the debt.
