Hello there, I have a couple of ideas for a tournament list but I've only ever played with the battlegroup about 5 times so don't know which would be better. Both lists come to 350 points exactly.

Sorscha
Iron Fang Pikeman
Widowmakers
Winterguard Mortar Crew
Orin Midwinter
Kodiak

Sorscha
Beast 09
Widowmakers
Ion Fangs Pike men
Orin Midwinter
Mechaniks

I've never been a fan of 350 non mangled metal as I think it's open to abuse and one sided games. Both your lists look like they'll play well. Sorcha seems mandatory in these type of lists.

Welcome to Dakka BTW.

Thank you for the welcome,

Are you saying they are equally good lists? How is it open to abuse exactly? I'm too new to be able to make dirty lists or have I done so by accident?

Things like Sorcha's feat totally throw the game because it's much easier to catch half a dozen models. With a larger game this is less likely, I find bigger games (500-750) or Mangled Metal 350 to be more balanced.

This is in no way a judgement on style of play you have, If you like it that cool. I hate those gamer type conversations on the 40k forums.

Enjoy your stay here.

Yeah Sorcha's feat is good, she is the only warcaster I have so I don't know what the others are capable of yet.

I don't really know what my play style is, I've only used the battle group. I don't know what a mangled metal is either.

I would really like to go with Beast-09 but I think I should save him for a larger game and I'd do better with the Kodiak and mortar team for a tournament. It is three games of an assassins mission where I have to kill the enemy warcaster.

Mangled metal is Warcaster and Warjacks only, no solos or units. Many Khador players don't like it because they have no light jacks, therefore their options are limited.

I'd take two mortars, Sorsha's feat turn will be doubly harsh.

Agreed, my regular opponent plays two mortars (and widowmakers) and it's tough going.

Oh I see, then mangled metal is what the tournament is normally done as, this is the first time solos and units have been allowed. Maybe it'll be the last time if it turns out to be abused and people don't like it.

So I am guessing the mortars will hit automatically once Sorcha pops her feat? That would be great, I'll have to buy another mortar team.

Target's DEF is reduced to 5, I don't know the Mortars RAT off the top of my head.
