What's the best way to enter warmachine, is there something i should be reading first or should i try a few games at a local store or something?

I have read the quickstart rules from the PP website, but i was also curious about the huge amounts of units, how do i know what to take or what to use, or how they are used?

I am quite interested in this game, the models are very nice looking and i have heard good things about the game, i'm just slightly lost with how to break into the game itself.

Thanks guys.

I'm pretty new to but,I'll atleast try to help.

There are a rather large number of units,as to how to use them and which to take is down to the combos/synergies you would like to create.Perhaps you could check out BattleCollege, they have rather nice articles explaining basically how X unit works and it's uses:

Also if you are still undecided on which race to get, perhaps ask the local PP guys to do a demo of a race for you.I'm sure they won't mind.

As for starting it,I would advise that you not make any large invest until January. This doesn't mean don't buy things,it just means don't buy duplicates of the same unit. The best place to start would most likely be a battlegroup/warpack for your selected faction.

I hope I didn't ramble too much and that it helped a bit.

The MKII Quickstart rules are here.

You can now play any of the starter boxes with the official MKII rules. That'll allow you to take your first steps into Warmachine. Go with whichever faction you most like the look of.

Also, what city do you live in? You can contact a local Press Ganger to meet up and
try out a demo game.
