What is the pariah gene? People are saying that the gene ends making a person shoot blanks in the warp.Is this true?

It's a Necron-engineered gene that prevents humans born with it from forming a presence in the Warp, so they are essentially 'soulless', so their mere presence makes psykers physically ill and makes it hard for them to use their powers. I don't think that Daemons, being made of pure Warp-energy, can see Pariahs, but I might be wrong about that.
Even to non-psykers, Pariahs are horrible to be around. They lack a lot of empathy and can cause feelings of nervousness and even terror to normal beings.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

I think that's true. I know daemons can't see marines of the Exorcist chapter.
I think there was some debate in the other thread over whether the Pariah Gene was created by the Necrons or simply exploited by them, though.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

The Exorcists aren't Pariahs though, they all undergo a grueling trial which involves being possessed by a minor Daemon to build up a resistance to future possession and the energies of Chaos.

No. Pariahs are humans with an anti-Warp gene. Necrontyr were an alien race.

Oh yeah, I just figured it would have a similar effect. Seeing as how blanks have so much resistance to Chaos naturally.

Blanks are actually immune to its corruption, however. Exorcists, while highly trained, do not undergo the same training as Grey Knights, who have never fallen to Chaos. Automatically Appended Next Post: penut the butter wrote:@Cheese:so the pariahs in the necron codex are humans?
Yes, they are humans merged with Necron bodies. I think that they still retain their vital organs as well as at least a degree of blood. Dawn of War: Dark Crusade had some interesting tidbits about Necrons, as their second-in-command is a Pariah who was until recently the same human who accidentally awoke them.

I know. But if a great deal of resistance makes the Exorcists invisible, I'd think the blanks would have it at least as good.
I know people have trouble shooting a Culexus, but I think their equipment helps to shroud them as well.

Exorcists might not be invisible. Grey Knights aren't.

No, the Exorcists are invisible.
If the GKs aren't though, I'm not sure about blanks. Maybe it's more matter of difficult to perceive or focus on than Harry Potter magic invisibility.
::EDIT:: Ah, here's what I was looking for:
Lexicanum, cited as being from the Eye of Terror Codex wrote:On the basis that their souls are uncorruptible and pure, they are effectively invisible to most warp daemons as their souls do not register for the leak of the mortal corruption. Only extremely powerful daemons are able to spot them.

Huh, I never knew that. I suppose Grey Knights don't get possessed as part of their initiation.

The Grey Knights cause fear and instability in daemons, so maybe they have a different system going.

Never heard of the Exorcists until now, but it seems that they basically fill in the cracks of their soul until the daemons can't see them. Whereas the GKs literally emanate Faith, which the demons can definitely see.
In a dark room:
Exorcists - Lightbulb that is completely painted black
Normals - Dim-to-regular lightbulb 60watts
GKs - a small sun 9001 watt lightbulb

The Grey Knights can't be blank because they have psychic powers. I've never heard of the Exorcists, though... where'd they come from?
