Coven
Nightwrench
Nightwrench
Skarlock
5 Soulhunters
Wrathe
That seems set for now. I love the soulhunters, I plan on giving them Stealth from the Coven coupled with Incorporal should deliver them nicely.
Coven and Skarlock both cast the cloud effect power and hopefully shelter behind that.
Nightwrenches advance behind the cloud effect as well and arc offensive spells for coven.
Now, I can't decide on the rest of the list.
I know I want a Jack to make use of Infernal Machine.
In addition I prob. want a meaty infantry unit with solo in tow.
I can’t choose between these:
10 Bane Thralls
Tartarus
They have stealth which maximizes…stealth-y-ness. In addition they hit really hard and can get more members.
Vs.
10 Bloodgorgers
Slaughterborn
They are tougher, hit as hard base, but get an additional attack, and cost 1 point less.
I wanted to include McThralls in the list of meaty infantry unit, but I’m not sure what they offer the Coven or the list in general besides lots of bodies and 1 to 2 brute thralls.
Then comes the last 5-6 points for the jack:
Slayer=the simple/reliable jack I suppose.
Cankerworm=I don’t know, I’m not crazy for the model.
Stalker=has stealth and a longer range so Coven doesn’t have to be crazy close.
Or should I go with something else instead of the jacks?

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

I would say take cankerworm or stalker. Stalker might be a better choiche because of double range... It is susceptible to damage when a opponent starts hitting it though...
If you want a heavy instead go with a seether one way or another. They are great and make their own focus. With all the other bonusses you are not burdening the coven with controlling it...
For infantry in a setup like this the thralls are preferable IMHO. They have stealth and hit hard. They can hit hard on their own as you can curse the target with Tartarus...
hope this helps...

I've been thinking about running the Coven with a pair (yes pair) of Slayers. They only come to 12 points for the pair and they can make good use of the Coven's Ghost Walk, Occultation and Infernal Machine spells.
I'd have to invest in a second Slayer model to run this but fortunatly they're pretty cheap second hand.
Drop the Scarlock and take a full unit of Mcthralls and a Necrosurgeon. 35 points on the nose.
Witch Coven of Garlghast
Nightwrech x2
Slayer x2
Mechanithralls (max)
Necrosurgeon & Stitch thralls
Soulhunters (max)

@LordRavurion:
Maybe the Stalker with 1-2 points left.
Stalker is nice with stealth so it doesn’t need occulation from Coven, but yes, the number of boxes with systems is alarming.
I considered the Seether (awesome sauce_, but there is no way to get him into the list without dropping something 'big'.
Those extra 3 points are alot.
Bloodgorgers vs. Bane Thralls, yes prob. Stealth wins out.
Just wondering when Bloodgorgers would eclipse Thralls, or what sort of situations would they be better, prob. vs. mass infantry as they have 2 attacks each…and taking a bit more damage to the jaw.
@George Spiggott:
Hmm dropping the Scarlock, it makes me think. 2 points for an extra Ghost Walk or Veil of Mists if the caster is low on focus.
And the pair of slayers…who would you hand which?
What do the McThralls bring to Coven? Meatshield?
Your list does look pretty sleek.
Quantity has it’s own quality, but 2 Slayers vs. 1 Deathjack…DJ is so tempting.

@Sanctjud: The Mcthralls and Necrosurgeoon add a cheap meat shield that's difficult to shift. What do you mean by "And the pair of slayers…who would you hand which"? I just want to see how Coven play with multiple heavies, they've got the focus for it. I'd never take Deathjack as my only heavy in MKII.

About the two slayers.
Oops, I had though Ghostwalk was a upkeep, but it's not, so one Slayer is Stealthed and the other has Infernal machine and you ghost walk when the oppurtunity shows up.
hmm.
Deathjack at higher points as suggested.

Deathjack is recommended if he's not the only egg in your basket. He's a good buy in larger armies.

Coven +5
Seether 9
Stalker 3
Nightwrench 4
Nightwrench 4
Skarlock 2
6 McThralls 3
Necrosurgeon 2
5 Soulhunters 9
Wrathe 4
I think I’ll try something like this.
I’m going with Seether and Stalker instead, cause I really want the 2 jacks to be stealthed.
Seether is efficient at focus, leaving the Stalker with the focus that would have gone to the seether for runs and charges.
The McThralls 'just' fit into the list...or instead of the Necrosurgeon, go with a full 10 man?

I think a min unit of Bane-thralls instead of mecthralls and surgeon is better. when going for a surgeon you still need a large unit of mcthralls from which you can recreate thralls. You can only create 3 in a given turn so the group will be thinned down quick. max sizes are important.
I thought baneThralls are 5 for 6 (But I could be wrong) and are therefore a better choiche...
