Just a quick review on the Mantic Elves sprue....

First up, a big thank you to Wayland Games, they sent me through a free sprue as promised in their post...THANKS GUYS!

Now, I've actually recieved two of these free sprues, one from Wayland (see above) and one from Maelstrom Games for an order I placed.

Ok, so first things first, the miniatures are free, so I shouldn't belly ache too much, but to be really honest, I'm glad these were free, because I won't be buying any!!!

First issue is scale.....I'm not sure if the guys at Mantic are setting their own standards, or if they're selling these miniatures as an alternative to the established manufacturers like GW or Rackham? but if its the latter, then these Elves are way out of scale....these guys are way to small!

If Mantic are trying to set their own standards, then they need to think a bit more about overal detail and quality...its not horrendous by anyones standard, but its nowhere near the best in market!

Now, some people are gonna shout me out on the the quality statement, based on the price Mantic are asking for their range, however....many of us here are hobbyists, and noone is forcing a gun to our heads, that said, I'd say most guys are willing to pay good money for a top quality product, rather then paying slightly less, for a poorer quality product.....not true? well, thats the way I roll.

These miniatures also come with the bases integral to the miniature.....this is way to old school for me, and it means you either have to chop off the base and affix a standard round base (good luck, I can see a few Elves minus feet doing it that way) pr you glue the whole miniature, base and all, to a standard round base...severly limiting your scope for base dressing....to me, this is a big NO NO!

Taking all the above into account, like I said, these are not the worst miniatures on the market....I don't think they will cause established miniature companies any sleepless nights, and I wish them all the best!

Is this the start of a wonderful new Elven army for me.....no....maybe when the rest of the range is released things will be different, but for now...I'm giving Mantic Elves a 4/10

If anyone else has seen these yet, I'd love for you to post your impressions!

Man down, Man down....

Can you post a picture of these elves?

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.
