Hey Hey,
Been a while since posted anything that warranted a proper response.
I'm currently expanding my SM (pics of converted SM Captain should be up soon which I would appreciated you comments on as its my first conversion) and they are Codex at the moment, but I'm really tempted by the BA stuff.
I know Space Wolves are the current Favourites, and Dark Angels seem to be the army of choice, but my scheme is black and red with silver *see my pic* and i just keep looking at them thinking, Lood angels would work with this, as a spin off chapter.
What do you think, a worth while shift, or will I just want to go back to the standard codex after a few weeks?

Hell yes go Blood Angels. They are strongly rumored to be getting a new codex in 2010. Get yours all painted and such and you can hit the ground running when the new codex is released.

I play BA. I can't imagine playing another chapter. Assault marines, Baal Predators, Furioso dreads and the Death Company are what drew me in. Lots of BA vets complain about the current pdf codex, but I think it's actually pretty good. I am both looking forward to and dreading the new codex rumored to be coming in the Spring. On the one hand I'm anxious to get an upgrade sprue and plastic Baal Predator bits, but I'm also afraid they'll bork things up rules-wise.

Hmm, Didn't know about a new codex, doesn't make the decision any easier though.
@Arschbombe
The Baal predator got my attention too, AS I want a predator, but the Las cannon and Auto cannon just dont really do it for me.
I was also thinking of doing a Gold Deathwatch, as my Chaplain has gold edging on black armour, and my captain has a lot of gold too.
Can you still take normal dreads as well as Furioso? not because I dislike it, but I already have a standard one.

Dark Angels are certainly not the army of choice! Blood Angels would be a nice move though. Just beware - it's very assault marine heavy. Your scheme isn't too different from Flesh Tearers, which is the most badass successor of Blood Angels around.
You can still take regular dreads and venerable dreads, in addition to Furiosos. Ironclads serve pretty much the same purpose in codex Marines though.

I like Blood Angels. I have those extra tacticals and termies from AoBR. Are the Blood Ravens from DoW connected to them at all? Id like to use their colours with BA rules

Blood Ravens aren't connected at all. They're more of a codex chapter though, and they'd be better represented by the regular codex.

The best thing about the Baal isn't the TL Assault Cannon. It's the overcharged engines. Being able to move 12" and still fire the TLAC or move 6" and fire everything is pure win as they say. Except against things like holofalcons and monoliths, the TLAC is better for busting armor than a lascannon because of the high rate of fire coupled with rending.
I usually take two Baals in my mech BA list.
About dreads. BA can take furiosos and regular dreads. Both can be upgraded to venerable. The furioso can get a death company upgrade too. Fully kitted out a venerable death company furioso gets 4-7 S10 attacks on the charge and carries a meltagun and heavy flamer. Podding one in on top of your opponent's line is just fantastic.

@Arschbombe
I didn't realise Baal Pred had over charged engines, VEERRRYYYY INTERESTING. Thanks for the Dread tips too.

Well, the current BA codex is jervisified and I'd hesitate to play according to it.
But a new codex is on the horizon and so we hope to get a non-jervisified one.
