Looking for one of the SPD5 Menite jacks... which one would players suggest as the more flexible of the two? I am thinking about the Castigator due to its open hands, though the Reckoner has reach on its club.

Castigator is a good all rounder, able to do all the power attacks and is good against infantry. Reckoner is an unknown quantity to me in MkII, apart from the eSeverious trick with a pair of them.

I think I would go with the rekoner first, It has nice abilitys inclding reach and assault. With the new shake off rules you may find less use for two handed throws, and you can no longer charge and vent.

Reckoner is insanity in Mark2 as is the Vanquisher.

Castigator was our goto heavy for low focus efficiency in MK1, I'm still trying to find his place in MK2.

My read on it is to go with the reckoner, if you need to choose. He DEFINITELY improves in MKII. I think 'jacks are going to come back in a big way, and the reckoner is the best anti-jack beatstick heavy PoM has. (Not including the Uniques) Castigator loses his overheat ability, i think, and many more models are going to have immunities to Fire. That being said, I think the Castigator is a perfectly good jack, and awesome against units. I run both with my Reznik battlegroup, and they seem to do pretty well...

Not really trick. Cast Awareness, shoot anything you want.

Boom, Boom!

They both fill different roles on the battle field, so it depends on what you want to do with your jacks.

The Phoenix has Combustion, and the Retribution book specifically disallows
Charging and using Combustion.

@ CATACLYSMUS: Malf pretty much called it. You get both of them into Assault range of the enemy caster. Average dice result in a dead caster. Only works once against any given opponent as it's pretty easy to spot and nullify.
