I'm relatively new to Warmachine with only a couple of games under my belt. I started playing when my local shop started supporting the game, but we've been playing an escalation league and sombody noticed that the Abomination trait mentions "models". The debate we are having is whether Warjacks have to make command checks or flee. Some say that the 'jacks are intelligent and therefore can fear for their own lives just like everyone else. The more sane among us realized we're talking about a couple tons of murderous steel and guns that probably have better things to be concerned with than personal safety. Our opponents base their conclusion on the fact that Prime:Remix specifically says that Warcasters have fearless, and yet 'jacks fail to mention the point. Can someone please help? If this happens to be covered in the book somewhere, could you tell me which page(s) it says so? Sorry for the wall of text, and thanks for the help!

I do not know where I read it, but as far as I know Jacks are fearless. I believe it is stated somewhere in the command section, But I am not sure. Also don't have the book with me right now...

A couple more questions, do you have to spend focus on the 'jack to use abilities with the star in front of them (see Devastator and Beast 09)? And, can a Warcaster cast more than one spell that can upkeep? If so, what happens to the old one? Again, page numbers would be most appreciated! Thanks

'Jacks, Warcasters, Warlocks and Warbeasts are all fearless.

* abilities do not require focus.

If you cast a spell that's an upkeep the previous casted version goes away.

Sorry, my book isn't anywhere near me.

Sorry Malfred, but MKII has changed upkeep spells. On pg. 76 of the most recent MKII PDF, the early release one, it states that "A model can have only one instance of each specific upkeep spell in play at a time, but it can maintain any number of different upkeep spells simultaneously if it spends enough focus points to do so."

If you cast the same upkeep spell twice, the first instance goes away, and each model or unit can have only one friendly and one enemy upkeep spells on them at a time.

This isn't a change, it's always been this way. I think Mlaf was referring to what happens with a single spell.

No book on me either but Warcasters and Warjacks are definately Fearless. In addition Warjacks have no CMD stat and automatically pass all CMD checks.

Yup, sorry. I should have written with more clarity.

how exactly would a model without a CMD stat make a cmd check?

Common sense goes a long way sometimes...
