Looking for any info on Marine Land Speeders. While I know the model has changed over the years, have they actually changed in the 'fluff'? The lex has no info on them...and I was wondering if there were different Mks like armor...and if so reference? Planning a Heresy army with a few . Thanks!

Bad news buddy.

According to lexicanium http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Land_Speeder The STC patterns for the land speeder were only found in M31 after the Horus heresy.

Doesn't make sense to me as iirc space marines did have jetbikes at the time. - maybe there's your answer, call them heresy era jetbikes and use the rules for lands speeders. Could be some cool conversion opportunities there if your up for it.

In fact, the first model for the land speeder was much more open, with the marines legs exposed, kind of like on a ski lift, and a bit like on a bike (just with two guys sitting side by side.

Model wise there have been 3 versions of the land speeder (i think). The first, as I described, was metal, the second two were plastic and looked the same pretty much (representing the same version). Just the most recent kit is much easier to actually stick together.

Overall though, for heresy era think JETBIKES! For the Emperor!

There are pictures of Land Speeders in the 'Visions of Darkness' HH art book.

It even states 'Land Speeder' in the caption.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

It's quite common for artistic images to use contemporary styles of clothing, equipment, etc for completely different eras of the past.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Reading lexicanum though, it says M31, which seems to be during the Heresy.

I would say that if you were going to make some, keep them as is. If someone asks why they have Land Speeders, simply say that they are "prototypes" for the recently rediscovered STC, to ensure that they can survive on an Adeptus Astartes battlefield.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Look at the master of the Ravenwing model. That's the preheresy jetbike iirc, and I think that is the type of model you should aim for in your land speeders.

The first three were metal.
The flying lawn chair - Multi melta and melta gun (also available in Army model with plasma cannon and heavy bolter).
The 'tornado' (heavy bolter + heavy flamer)
The Ravenwing speeder (as above with DA iconography)

Thence came the plastic one (3rd ed box).
The tornado and typhoon (plastic/metal hybrids)
Current one (typhoonado plastic)
and Scout speeder (plastic).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
