Quite obviously as an ork player, I know quite little on the Chaos Space Marine lore besides what I get on Lexicanum and the like, and one question I was wondering is, do the Chaos Gods ever directly speak to their woshippers? I mean this as in to give direct orders to their forces, not as a kind of thing where a delusional cultist thinks he's hearing the words of Nurgle but he just has a mild fever.

How do the Chaos Gods communicate with their forces? Or do they at all?


(and if different gods use different methods, just use Khorne as the example)

I've never heard of them communicating directly, but their daemons do.

Although its said every daemon lies.

So for Khonre I can think in the book Daemon World the Daemon Prince of Khorne negotiates an alliance with the mountain people to kill the slaanesh worshippers.

It went something like.

DP "You are they're king."
K" yes help us kill the slaaneshi."
DP "Yes we will fight together til the slaaneshi are dead."
K"Blood for the blood god!"
DP "BFTBG"

The Chaos gods send daemon messengers or talk directly to their champions and princes.

Chaos Gods do speak directly to mortals sometimes, more so in WHFB, where it's possible to enter the Realm of Chaos by travelling to the far north of the Old World.

Khorne:Sends a giant Daemon Prince who threatens to beat you to a bloody pulp if you don't agree
Tzeentch:don't know. Methods always change.
Nurgle:Sends a giant pus bag with a note attached to his back
Slaanesh: Sends a gift basket of coke and bath soaps with a friendly letter.

There's a statement about Slaanesh and a shrubbery which has exhibited spontaneous combustion here somewhere, but it's too heretical to write out...

On the other hand, the modern skepticism that a cultist who hears the words of Nurgle "just has a mild fever" or is "delusional" is something one should likely set aside when the daemons and other manifestations of Nurgle coming walking through town.

That is very true, but there is always the chance that he might really just have a mild fever....maybe its' from that coke in the gift basket

If it was sent by Slaanesh I don't think its the kind of coke you drink, also there might be smiley faced pills and various other powdered substances, maybe some lovely dried "flowers".
