I got a Dark Elf Battalion box for xmas last year, and just started painting the models that came in it. Looking through what I have, I'm only seeing 12 shields for my warriors. Is this all that comes in the box or did I get gyped?

Think that's right (well not "right", but yes, I believe the content is correct), the rest of the warriors are supposed to be crossbowmen. Spare shields are probably easy to pick up from GW's website.

It is indeed correct, as far as I know.

Metal Shields are definitely available, and I'm fairly sure the plastic sprues are too.

Do they still sell blisters/packs with shields or bases in the stores? or do you have to order such things online nowadays?

And if you want a further more concrete answer, I've just checked the GW site and the DE Battallion is advertised as containing "12 Dark Elf Warriors with Spear and Shield". Still rubbish though...

To be fair, the competition armies generally have few if any spearmen, and then only as 'bodyguard' for a sorceress with the dagger of sacrifice. Repeater Crossbowmen are much more common.

And, for that matter, more useful to boot. Give them the shields and they are decent light infantry, with an even better ranged attack. Spearmen are just decent light infantry.
