Greetings fellow gamers,

i have come here humbly seeking advice.

My problem being my inability to ever win from Menoth with my Cryx army

My list
-Warwitch Deneghra
-Slayer
-2 * deathripper
-1 * defiler
-Bane lord Tartaros
-either unit of bane knights or bane thralls depending on my mood (not maxed)
-unit of Blood gorgers (not maxed)
-sometimes some scrap thrall thrown in for flavor with the Necrotech

This should constitute around 500 points (mkI)

My opponents list
-Kreoss
-Redeemer or revenger ( he sometimes swaps)
-crusader or reckoner
-full unit of zealots including the monolith bearer
-full unit of temple flameguard including officer and standard bearer
-6 man strong choir
-vassal of Menoth
-High paladin Vilmon

the Menoth player somehow weaves an inpenetrable web of defences (and maybe lies ) making me rather unable to even kill his weakest units, the zealots. When i stray in his control area i have to pay double focus for spells and his flameguard more or less have ARM 20 all the time.

Also i would like to ask if it is normal that his paladin can be in two stances at the same time, imho this seems to be rather unlogic.

Some pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I also have a unit of bloodgorgers at home, around 8 scrap thrall + a necrotech, a machine wraith and a harrower warjack. And within two weeks i should have my unit of bile thralls and a bloat thrall.

Thank you in advance for reading this and for your advice.

Leave Deneghra out of the control area and instead use the bonejacks to deliver the spells.

Zealots are NOT his weakest unit in MKI, as once they are hit their defense rises
dramatically. You have to kill the Priest (unit leader) first in order to eliminate their
anti-spell, damage increasing abilities. If he's smart, he's bringing those zealots
up with anti-spell prayers on them, so unless you can eliminate just the leader.

I doubt the player is lying, but the defenses are not impenetrable. I think
Deneghra should be able to get the drop on Kreoss.
(NOT the monolith bearer yet) that unit will be a pain in your backside all game long.

Things that should work against the Zealots:

*Bile 'splosion
*Pistol wraith capping the unit leader
*Bloat thrall dropping a template in the vicinity of the unit leader

Even if they have greater destiny, at least the corrosion effects should kick in
the following turn and eliminate 2/3s of the unit (statistically). Corrosion
also helps you deal with high armor, single wound units like the Temple Flameguard.

Your priorities should be
*Zealot Priest
*Vilmon (with the arc node)
*Choir Priest
*Vassal (especially if he hasn't used his feat yet and is using the Redeemer)

Thanks for the reply Malfred.

I'll give it a try next tuesday.

About the paladin, can he be in 2 stances at once?

No. And in mark I, he's almost never in a stance at all.

Don't forget your best spell - the mighty Venom. Even if the Zealots can not be targeted by spells, Venom is a Spray. So just target something on a bigger base behind Zealots and all of them under template could be easily hit (and killed).

could you elaborate a bit on that one. The guy playing with the paladin is going to need some convincing. The rules text states (if i recall correctly) that the paladin can forfeit his action and/or movement to take on a stance.

The reasoning of my opponent is that if he forfeits both (when he sees i can probably get a charge of or something) the paladin can be in two stances at once.

I'm somewhat confused.

What I meant to say was that regular paladins aren't tactically ever going to use their
stance, almost never as it prevens them from taking free strikes and in order to use Shield
Breaker they have to forfeit movement.

Also, Paladins have to forfeit movement to use either stance, and if you forfeit something
once, you can't do so again.
