If you haven't signed up for the Privateer Press email newsletter, then you missed out on the rules for Dannon & Bull and the Ghordson Basher. There are links below

Dannon Blythe and Bull look like they're going to be a versatile melee unit with ranged attacks and interesting bonuses, such as Huntsmen. The Ghordson Basher looks like it will be a heavy control piece used to give Rhulic players more options in dealing with heavies (slams and Follow Up).

Thank you, malfred. The URL for the Basher was borken in the newsletter...
Looks my Searforge will be getting some very cool new options in the Basher. Durgen is great for it with more damage for Flak Field on his feat turn, and Redline gives it a 10" slam with p+s 17, which is pretty awesome. It also looks to be an ok 'jack for marshaling, although Tune Up wont affect Flak Field. Gorten with Strength of Granite gives it a p+s 19 slam that I for some reason find rather tasty

The Basher is amazing. On top of the P+S 16 slam strength of granite gives you, the Basher does +12 more damage with the hardhead and then theres the POW 12 flak field attack. Correct me if I'm wrong but this has the potential of 64 points of damage on one target. Just marshalled by a Hammerfall Sgt. thats 60 points of potential damage. Thats pretty much a one turn 'jack wrecker.

STR 12 + 4 Strength of Granite + 3 Hard Head = STR 19 slam = Average 8 damage vs. ARM 18
POW 12 Flak = Average 1 damage vs. ARM 18
2-3 additional attacks that automatically hit (focus driven) =16-24 damage
Overall you've dealt 20-30 points. Not a wrecker, but a fantastic start.
Best part? PC 7.

Definitely. Another point about either SoG or Redline is that it makes collateral damage POW 16 and POW 14 respectively, which is pretty good.
There are possibilities with Thor's Drive Pronto that make it a very dangerous slammer: a 5" advance from Pronto followed by an 8" slam that can slam from 3"-8" including the follow-up. And then Flak Field to clear out infantry once it gets there. Moving those possible 21" is total overkill, but still fun And it'd leave the Basher thoroughly out of marshaling range ...
I'm pretty happy about it on paper, and I can't wait to try it out. With this, Brun & Lug and Gudrun, the Searforge Commission is really becoming a versatile and great army.

You're right I was thinking STR not POW on hardhead and my math was wrong. +3 for hardhead + 24 max on the slam and another + 24 max from Flak field. I am assuming you can advance using follow up after a slam into B2B with your target and then use the flak field just so long as it doesn't interrupt your normal movement. With a little strategy you are setting up for collateral damage on other targets as well. My only question is do you need to spend focus to use the flak field in addition to the slam attack? According to the rules under power attacks you do need to spend focus for an additional melee attack.

Nope. Flak Field is not an attack, it's an "any time during it's activation" ability. Like a 'jack marshal drive, so you can just use it for free at any time. EDIT: @whitekong: For some reason the links that malfred supplied does not work in Internet Explorer. They work for me in both Chrome and Firefox, so if you're using IE, you might wanna try another browser.

Ok thanks I will give it a try. Automatically Appended Next Post: Well now that I have gotten a chance to look at them, I am not that impressed. The bashers grand slam ability is nice for our low focus casters but at armor 19 and a smallish damage grid, I don't see paying more for it than a driller.

Yeah. It's really too bad the fig seems pretty...unattractive, otherwise this would be an auto-include for Thor, a Highshield Sgt. or Durgen. Hrmn. Maybe I need to re-examine...

The Basher's grid is actually very good because of the distribution of systems boxes. Also, it's almost 100% functional as long as it has one box of movement left: it'll still be able to slam, which it would want to do almost constantly; Flak Field is totally unaffected by disabled systems, and because of Grand Slam it doesn't really need it's cortex anyways. It's Battering Ram attacks will be weaker, but if it can slam, who cares about those? It's not a wrecker, but it's perfect for crowd control and for slamming.
It's great for marshaling, and even better for Durgen, since Flak Field can give him extra focus if used carefully, and Redline is beastly on the Basher.
If it wasn't for xmas, I'd be getting two

That would be a madhammer kind of thing to do, wouldn't it?
Stand around with a couple of Bashers firing off their Flak Fields next to you
so that you can have extra focus...

Lol, yeah I played a game with Durgen wherein I almost killed more of my own High Shields than my opponent did. I still won, but poor those poor High Shields never saw it coming

Redline has to be on one of Madhammer's own 'jacks, correct? I guess the question becomes, does the Basher take the place of a Driller and/or a Wroughthammer, or do you give one of them to Thor or some Highshields to marshal?

Yep, Redline can only target a warjack in Durgen's battlegroup.
A Basher would probably take the place of a Driller in my Durgen lists. I'd even consider running two on Durgen along with two Gunners/Blasters, because both of those are so focus efficient. Thor is great for marshaling a Basher too, but I've never felt comfortable marshaling a heavy to the High Shields, while they can be tough they're still relatively easy to wipe out to a man, while Thor is a lot easier to hide and has a Drive as well as Tune Up (useless on the Basher, I know, but still )

Frankly, I'd never considered marshaling a Rhulic 'Jack period, because they all need even a little focus (despite their efficiency) but this is huge.

I'm totally fine with 'Jack Marshaling with Thor. While additional focus is
nice, Pronto gives the dwarves some nice mobility with a flanking force
of heavies or guns. (I think you have to choose between one or the other)

I agree, malfred. I marshal with Thor all the time, most often a Rockram, or a pair of Gunners. Pronto more than makes up for the lack of extra focus, and Tune Up is just awesome.
I probably wouldn't marshal two heavies to Thor, but a Rockram and a Bokur (for Shield Guard and clearing out nasty things) is my usual loadout for him. But a Basher might take the Rockram's place, but we'll see.
