Ok, so I've returned to the great world of Warhammer 40k after about 7 years off. I've been working on making an Eldar army (the first race I played), but I was lured away by the arrival of the new Space Wolves codex (my second "race"). My desire to use my Space Wolves may also have been spurred by being tabled in the first game I used my Eldar in after returning to the hobby. Maybe I should use a more resilient army while I re-learn the tactics of this game.

I have a tournament at my FLGS this Saturday, so I'm just trying to gather enough models and such for a 1,750 point army, but I'm also working towards a fully painted army in the future. So, here's the first pic of basically all the Space Wolves I own (I'm trying to get the best quality I can, despite my lack of a lightbox and such).

-Land Raider (unpainted)
-Rhino (unpainted)
-Drop Pod (mostly painted)
-Ulrik the Slayer (badly painted from youth, needs to be stripped)
-Ragnar Blackmane (needs to be stripped)
-Rune Priest (almost finished)
-Iron Priest (needs to be stripped)
-Dreadnought (Bjorn the Fell-handed) (badly painted from youth, needs to be stripped)
-5 Long Fangs (need to be stripped, badly armed from old Long Fang Pack Box)
-8 Wolf Scouts (need to be stripped)
-3 Space Marine Bikes (unassembled)
-Attack Bike (half built, pile in right-hand corner)
-10 Wolves (unassembled, pile to left of attack bike pile)
-2 Painted Termies (Dual Wolf Claws and Assault Cannon/Power Fist)
-3 Unassembled Termies
-Power Armor Marines: 3 Painted, 20 Assembled or near-assembled (need to be stripped), 8 on sprues
-19 Metal Marine/Space Wolf Bodies (need to be stripped)

Here are the guys that I have painted up. They're almost complete, minus highlighting, Great Company and pack markings, and final touch-ups.
First is the Rune Priest that I made using a body from the Space Wolf Pack and a staff that I made from Bjorn the Fell-handed's banner pole.

Second is my Terminator with Assault Cannon/Power Fist.

Third is my Terminator with Dual Wolf Claws, this guy has both his arms and shoulder pads magnetized.

Fourth is my Wolf Guard with Plasma Pistol and Power Weapon.

And last is my Grey Hunter Plasma Gunner.

Right now I'm working on two more Terminators with Storm Bolter/Power Weapon and Storm Bolter/Power Fist, a Long Fang Pack Leader, two Grey Hunters with Wolf Standards, and a Grey Hunter with Plasma Pistol.

If you're interested, here is the list that I plan on using this Saturday.

HQ
-Wolf Priest: Plasma Pistol, Saga of the Warrior Born (160)
-Rune Priest: Master of Runes, Chooser of the Slain, Living Lightning, and Tempest's Wrath or Storm Caller (160)

Elites
-Dreadnought: Assault Cannon, DCCW, Heavy Flamer, Extra Armor (130)
-6 Wolf Scouts: Mark of the Wulfen, Meltagun, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon (145)
-6 Wolf Guard: #1 Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Power Fist (268)
#2 Terminator Armor, Storm Bolter, Power Weapon
#3 Terminator Armor, 2 Wolf Claws
#4 Terminator Armor, Assault Cannon, Power Fist (leading the Grey Hunters with Drop Pod)
#5 Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon (leading the Wolf Scouts)
#6 Mark of the Wulfen

Troops
-10 Grey Hunters: Flamer, Plasma Gun, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Rhino (240)
-8 Grey Hunters: Meltagun, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon, Wolf Standard, Mark of the Wulfen, Drop Pod (215)

Fast Attack
-None

Heavy Support
-5 Long Fangs: Heavy Bolter, Multi-melta, Plasma Cannon, Lascannon (135)
-Land Raider: Extra Armor (265)

Total:1,748

Feel free to critique the list and the painting/converting. Remember that I'm just getting back into the hobby though.

Playing Space Marine demo while GF was scrapbooking:
Me: I can turn it down, if the screams of dying orks are annoying you.
Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.

My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1

Yep, but I figured it out and they're good to go now. I think...

The pictures work and nice job on the models thus far. Have you tired washing them yet?

Update time!
-So I didn't fare very well in the tournament: almost tabled by orks, tabled by CSMs, and a draw against Vet. IG.
-Oh well, I learned some and recouped my entry fee by finishing second to last.
Here are some "action" shots from the third battle:

My Dreadnought taking down a Leman Russ Demolisher the old-fashioned way after his assault cannon was destroyed.

After that he proceeded to have his DCCW blown off and be immobilized, but he survived the battle.

And here's a pic of my Grey Hunters defending my objective against some tricky, outflanking Sentinels.

That's all from the tournament, so here's my second wave of mostly complete models that I finished the day before the tournament:

First, we have the Long Fang Pack Leader (I needed a new one cause my old one had a Power Weapon).

Next, we have my Mark of the Wulfen Wolf Guard (if anybody has good ideas on denoting models with MotW let me know).

Next, is my first Wolf Standard Grey Hunter.

And a close-up.

And here's my other Wolf Standard Grey Hunter.

Next up is a Plasma Pistol-toting Grey Hunter.

Wolf Guard Terminator with Storm Bolter and Power Fist.

And his parts.

And last but not least is my Wolf Guard Terminator with Storm Bolter and Power Weapon.

And his parts.

If anybody has any tips let me know, especially on how to paint the pack markings and Great Company badge on the shoulder pads. Aside from that I think I've decided to make my army more shooty with a couple dedicated CC units for counter-attacking. So any army building tips to make that work out would be greatly appreciated.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And a couple bonus pics:
I figured I'd take some shots of my Drop Pod, since that's painted too.

And open.

Looking good. Not sure about using the Wolf Scout head on the Grey Hunter with the PP though. It looks a lil too sunken in... but that may just be the angle of the photo

Yeah, didn't know there was such a thing as a Wolf Scout head 'til I got that guy painted up and glued him together. All of my Wolf Scouts came with their heads already attached, i.e. they're metal. I just thought it'd look cool for the guy with the Plasma Pistol to have a targeter/safety goggles sort of thing. I'll just call him Svard the Hunchbacked or something.

Ok, haven't posted in a real long time, so I've got plenty of updates. Mainly, I've been focusing on getting my current 1,850 army all up to a tabletop standard paint job. Eventually I'll get around to washes, highlights, and pack and Great Company markings. On that point, I'm still looking for any helpful tips on painting the pack markings. I'm very intimidated by having to free-hand them. I played in another tournament; defeated Vanilla Marines (including Logan Grimnar walloping Calgar for all his wounds in one round of CC), lost to another Space Wolves army (not really fun to play Space Wolves on Space Wolves), and just barely lost to IG. Overall, ended up 7th out of 16, which was a great improvement over second to last. Anyway, onto the pics.

First off, some pics from the last tournament:

My Lone Wolf Charging a Rhino

This Lone Wolf ended up not being very effective and he's not in my current army list.

Deployment for the fight with the IG

That big hill really screwed me over and in the end I basically lost by a single run roll for my Fenrisian Wolves.

Fenrisian Wolves versus Brave, but Stupid Guardsman

The Fenrisian Wolves munched the rest of his squad in the first round of CC, but he chose to pass his Ld test and thus protect them from the IG shooting.

Now onto the recent painting:

Group shot of all the Space Wolves I have painted now

The HQs

Logan Grimnar (WiP)

I'm still not ready to paint his wolf pelt.

Wolf Lord Bran Redmaw in Terminator Armor (WiP)

His arms are magnetized like the rest of my Terminators.

My Dual-wielding Grey Hunter

Yeah, I know I need to drill his bolter barrels.

My Combi-melta Wolf Guard

Made the Combi-melta using this handy guide http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/239553.page.

Missile Launcher Long Fangs

My Melta-toting Swiftclaw Pack that I built to deal with AV 13 and 14.
Standard Swiftclaw #1

Standard Swiftclaw #2

Meltagunner Swiftclaw

OOP Multi-melta Attack Bike

Wolf Guard on Bike with Combi-melta

Combi-melta made the same way as the one on the other Wolf Guard.
I've owned one of those bike boxes so long it was the kind in a box in a sleeve that was copyright 1999 and all except one were old enough to have 2nd edition bolters and backpacks in them.

Predator Destructor

The Lascannons are magnetized and I added the wolf skull above the Autocannon to make it wolfy, but any ideas to make it wolfier would be appreciated.

Land Raider Redeemer

I added the Dwarf shield to try and make it wolfy, but just like the Predator I need more ideas to make it wolfier.
