An interesting battle so far. Looking forward to reading the rest of it.

The Imperial Guard player seems to be using an odd - subpar, even - Valkyrie configuration. A Vendetta may have helped him do more damage to the Tau vehicles in this battle. However, I'll look to see if you have an army list thread before commenting on the list further.

Edit: Just noticed the paint scheme you gave your vehicles. Very nice.

<< I was running the Valks as and experiment, same as the ogryn, wanted to see how they did>>

Tau Turn 3:

Movement: Again, no reserves

Fire Team Charlie> Moves Back towards the building the Shas'O was jumping around

Fire Team Bravo> Moves up and drops his fire warriors in between the two Valks, just shy of getting rear armour on one, by about half an inch, the phrase "are you f***ing kidding me" is uttered.

Shas'O> Jumps towards Tau base, away from the Command Chimera.

Hammerhead> Moves Forward to shield the Shas'O from the Command Chimera and block movement.

Pathfinders> Their Devilfish comes and they embark, getting away from the the Vet Chimera with the flamer.

Nothing Else Moves.

Shooting Phase:

Broadsides> Fire into the Command Chimera. With 2 Pens one is stopped by smoke, the other is a roll of 1.

Shas'O> He and his squad fire at the Command Chimera, one glance one pen, the glance is shaken, the pen is weapon destroyed.
again the Phrase "Are you f***ing kidding me" is uttered.

Assualt Phase> The Shas'O jump directly back towards the firebase away from the command chimera.

IGuard turn 3:

Movement Phase:

Both Valkyries> move directly towards the Tau firebase flat out.

Command Transport> Pivots on the spot, which does not count as moving, and the Commisar and Ogryns disembark 2 inches. Then they roll a 6 to move through the building ruins.

Vet Squad Bravo> moves another 12 inches in their chimera now right up to the Tau home base, pops smokes.

Shooting Phase:

Commisar and 3 Ogryns> Fire on the Shas'O and Bodyguards kills 1. The Shas'O passes moral test.

Executioners> Fire on the broadsides again, killing the last shield drone and one broadside.

Vet Squad Alpha> The heavy bolter is just in range of the fire warriors who were trying for rear armour on a Valkyrie. Two die.

Assualt Phase:

Commissar and 3 Ogryns> The commisar and ogryns are in range by 1/2 an inch. The commisar is not in base to base however and as such cannot attack. The Tau inflict 2 wounds to the Ogryns 1 and win combat. The Ogryn pass moral and the pile in move brings the commisar into base contact.

Assualt Phase:

Vet Squad Bravo> Charges the pathfinder from their posistion, they kill one and are unharmed thus winning by one. The pathfinders fail their moral check and are run down by the sweeping advance. The guardsmen consulodate into the nearby ruins to the words of. "Are you f***ing serious."

Vet Squad Charlie> Hits the Tau firewarriors left in the base, killing one and losing no one, they win by one and the fire warriors stay.

Turn 5 Tau:

Movement Phase:

Fire Team Near IG Base> Jump out of their transport and move into rapid fire range of the chimera.

Hammer Head> Moves in behind immobilized chimera.

Pathfinder Devilfish> Move into firing range of the unengaged guardsmen.

Crisis Team> Moves Behind Chimera at IG base.

Shooting Phase:

Crisis suit> hits chimera, only blows off last gun.

Pathfinder Devilfish> Fires into guardsmen, kills 3, they do not break.

Broadsides> Hit Executioners, destroying the main turrent of a tank.

Assualt Phase:

Ogryns and Shas'O> One wound a side again a draw.

Fire Warriors and Vets inside base> Vets kill 4 Fire warriors, lose 1 Vet, fire warriors fail break test and are run down.

Fire Warriors and Vets outside base> No wounds at all.

IGuard turn 5:

There is no movement

Shooting> The executioners wipe out the fire warrior team near the IG base.

Vet Squad Alpha> Fires and kills last crisis suit

At this point the Tau player concedes.

Notes>>> This was an interesting game, I was a litle nervous losing half my tanks turn one to rail guns but a few lucky breaks at the end let me pull it out. My cousin agrees that it came down to him being in posistion to hit my squads if they came out of the Chimera's but when he planned on it he could not take them out. The other big factor was the Ogryns chargeing the extra 2 inches from the disembark to tie up his Shas'O in combat from turn 3 on. Again a little worse on move through terrian and I don't get that assualt and loose that Ogryn squad and commisar to plasma and missle pods. The lessons I learned. Ogryns are not great against 3+ saves in combat, and Guard are not all that much btter than Tau in close combat without power weapons on the Sgts. I think I am going to dump the Ogryns and maybe the Valks, go straight chimeras and through in some hellhounds. My cousin says that he isa going to get some more Suits and drop the Devil Fish from the fire warriors, not enough anti armour weapons. Well thats it for my first Battle Report. Critisim welcome, and thanks for reading.

5 miles north of Funkytown

the tau player shouldn't split his fire with his broadsides. It seemed that he couldn't get results while just firing at different targets. Good batrep, hope to hear one with a tau victory next time.

The best thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's far too late to stop reading it.

The Burble

It seemed like you were a little erratic w/ you executioner fire. Why did you choose to not have them hammer on the Broadsides until they were dead? Reading about the deployment, I thought you were going to keep your tanks out of LOS, and then roll them out first turn or second. Then blast everything at the Broadsides while the Valks went flat-out towards his big mass in the building. By turn two you could have had the 6 melta guns and the demo templates, and the executioner templates all wailing on the demolisher, and taking away the Shas'O's JSJ area. I guess some of the other targets like the devilfish seemed more threatening at the time- but I always try to kill the broadsides straight away.

Nonsense. The Battle Company box is perfect for filling out your ranks of aspect warriors with a large contingent from the Screaming Baldies shrine.
