Looking at playing a 1999 pt tournie in Feb. This will be a no named characters list with all core/special/rare and hero(no lord) restrictions adhering to the 1999 point alotment.
Here's what I'm thinkin to start:

Main core unit of 16 plaguebearers(full command w/ icon of virulence(sp?) w/ Lvl 1 Herald of Nurgle on Palaquin(noxious vapors/slime trail) & Herald of Nurgle BSB on Palaquin(Noxious vapors) & Banner????(open to suggestions here).
2 Core units of 10 Horrors(possibly with changeling for close combat/challenge support)
1 Rare selection of 3 Flamers
2 Units of 5 Flesh Hounds
this should be ~1500pts of the list(at work now without the book so this is an approximation)

Beyond this I'm open to some suggestions on further composition with the remaining ~ 500pts(should have one additional special slot open, unlimited cores and still one hero slot)
This tournie is geared towards eliminating the "cheese" factor with regards to top tier lists - however, even without the lord choice available the Daemons will be serious contention with regards to "brokeness". Would be interested in thoughts on this as well.

use the banner that doubles poison wounds for combat res....that is a goddamn nightmare to fight. Even your anvil unit can autobreak people with that one...

for the remaining 500 pts...maybe a khorne herald to follow the puppies in, or some furies for march blocking / war machine hunting...also a Tzeentch herald might be worth some consideration for some anti / offensive magic.

Banner of sundering is always good. Also the banner that make units within 12'' stubborn.

I would drop the gifts on you lv1 Herald and give him the staff of Nurgle.

Add one more flammer and add a unit of beasts of Nurgle.
