Below is the info for the first event in the new Gaming Bunker I'm opening. I'm renting out an empty store in the mall where I have my gamestore, and with the help of a couple of local clubs, fixing it up, adding 25 gaming tables, and holding a large number of events in the next year. Mostly GW tournaments, with a scattering of Apocalype games, painting weekends, FOW tourneys and a campaign weekend, Bloodbowl tournament, and some WarmaHordes Tourneys. And 3 GT's on the 2010-2011 indy GT circuit. The space holds 50 people for normal tournaments, and we will be renting out more space for the GT's. I'll be posting a full calendar soon, but for now, the January events, and the dates for the GT's are:

Jan 9th Prelude to Conflict, 40k and WFB tournaments, and a kick off party for the new space.
Jan 23rd Warmachine MarkII Resurgence Tournament

Feb. 27th and 28th: St. Valentines Day Massacre, 5 game, 1850pt 40k GT.
July 24th and 25th: The BIG Show, 5 games, 2999pt WFB, held in conjunction with the NE GT council, The Warmongers, and BigGunZ-NE
Nov. 20th and 21st: The Turkey Shoot, 5 games, 2250pt WFB.

Full Calendar of events coming soon. Got questions, give me a call at 610-891-9229, I'm almost always at the shop. My personal email is Mikenjudyc@aol.com, or PM here on Dakka.

Army Lists must be emailed by Jan 6th to Mikenjudyc@aol.com or Indiandog@gmail.com . Lists that show up after Jan 6th will be take a -5 penalty to their score. Reservations must be pre-paid, or you take your chances at the door. We have room for 50 people, maximum, for this event, for both game systems.

This Tournament is the first to officially be held in the new Game Bunker that we will be opening up in Jan. of 2010. This is a separate room from the store with 25 permanent tables, and room to expand for GT’s. We’ll be running over two dozen events there next year, from various gaming systems. To celebrate the first event, we’ll have food and snacks during the day, and we’ll be holding ‘Round 4’ down at the Ruby Tuesdays afterwards.

(Looking for more info on Conflict IGT? Head over to http://theconflictgt.com/ for all the information on this two day WFB/40k GT.)

Details: For this tournament we’ll be using points values used at the conflict:
1750 pts for 40k: Lists drawn from current Codices, and the Blood Angels PDF.
2250 pts for WFB: Lists drawn from current army books. Chaos Dwarfs us RH.

Seeding: Pairings for round 1 will be random within 3 categories: hard, normal, easy. Categories are determined by your army composition score. (see below). Pairings for round 2 and 3 will be by battle points, with highest playing the next highest, etc. In the case of ties, the pairings will be randomly determined. An exception is that no two players will play each other twice. There are no grudge matches, or challenges. In the case of an odd number of players, someone will be on hand with a ‘ringer army’.
(We will attempt to not have players from the same group/club/team play each other in round 1. No one likes to travel to a tournament and play the same guy they see each Saturday.)

Scoring will take into account:
Battle points: three games worth 34 points each
Painting: worth 0 to 20 points.
Army Composition: worth 0 to 20 points.
(Note: For our 2 day Grand Tournaments, we will be using a system of 5 games for 20pts each, comp for 20pts, and painting for 20pts. In 3 game tournaments, like this one, we are increasing the battle points per game, to keep the ratio between battle points and soft scores the same, with roughly a 70%/30% ratio.)

Battle Points: Each game will have a scenario. Battle points may be decided by victory points, scenario objectives, or a combination of the two. Scenarios will be posted by Jan 1st, so all players can be familiar with them ahead of time.

Army Composition scoring:
Each army will be given a score that reflects how “good”, “hard”, or “effective” it is. A lower scoring army will generally win more games than a lower scoring army. Scoring will be done by a group of 5 people, all of which currently play on a regular basis, and have tournament and GT experience. No one playing in a tournament will be judging comp for that tournament. Composition will not be based on theme, fluff, or story, only on how competitive your army is in a tournament environment. Bikernobz, Doublelashoblits, or VulcanTHmeltaflamerspam, is usually going to do a bit better usually than Greyknights, non-mech Eldar, or Darkangels
(We understand that this is a “subjective” system. There will not be a checklist put up for it. If you have questions about it, please talk to the Mike Clark, Mikenjudcy@aol.com, ahead of time.)

Painting will be scored by 2-3 people using a checklist. No one playing in a tournament can judge painting for that tournament. A summary of the checklist is below.:

Less then 100% of the Army is painted/flocked: 0 points. It is expected that all armies are painted and flocked. Showing up with partially painted army will definitely get you a 0 in painting, but might also bar you from playing in the tournament.

-Detailed Basing : 1 point. (Multiple dry brushes, as well as static grass/water effects/debris)

-Army Coherency*: 0-3 points.
(The army matches in one overall scheme, same unit markings, similar basing, theme, etc.)

-Highlights: 0-2 points. (Highlighting on most of the army)

-Good Use of Washes and Inks, or blending: 0-2 points. (Controlled use of Washes and Inks, not splashed all over)

-Extreme Detail: 0-3 points. (Eyes painted, banners, flags, free handwork.)

-Minor Conversions: 0-:2 points. (Kit swaps, different poses, some sculpting)

-Major Conversions**: 0-3 points. (Full or major sculpts, major greenstuffs work, major kit swaps)

-Neatness:1 point. (Not messy, clean-cut, overall neat)

-Modeling Skill:1 point. (No mold lines, differently posed miniatures, built correctly)

-Display Board: 0-2 points. (A board that match’s your army’s bases, not just a cookie tray

* = If you are playing an army that has different color squads in the fluff/storyline, then you get this point
** = If the player has a mostly converted army, the player receives points for both minor and major conversions

This Tournament is the first to officially be held in the new Game Bunker that we will be opening up in Jan. of 2010. To celebrate, we’ll have food and snacks during the day, and we’ll be holding ‘Round 4’ down at the Ruby Tuesdays afterwards.

Much playtesting was done over the holiday weekend...

On Lunch!

My wife tested a new recipe for pulled pork sandwhiches. We'll have a couple of crockpots worth of her barbeque for next weekend, along with a big pot of my homemade chile.

Still a few slots left for each system. Email me at Mikenjudyc@aol.com, or PM here if interested in coming up.

Here are the Fantasy scenarios for the weekend. 40k will go up later today. (If you see some glaring mistake, please PM me about it.)

Scenario 1 There’s gold in them there hills!

“Forget about those orcs charging us Snorri, I just found a nugget! Dig lad, Dig!”

This scenario is a pitched battle with the following special rules :

-Hills are worth an additional 300 victory points.

-To control a hill you must have a core unit, of at least unit strength 5 or more, on the hill and no enemy units on the hill. (Yes this means one enemy model can contest the hill). Any unit is ‘on the hill’ if it has one or more of it’s models touching the scenery piece.

Battle point modifiers:

+1 if you control more hills than your opponent.
+1 for killing the enemy general.
+1 if you destroy all of you opponent core units.
+1 for controlling a Battle Standard at the end of the game, (Yours or your opponents’.)

Scenario 2 Wow, this saugage tastes funn… and did you just grow a third arm?

“Hey, Johann, look! A roadside sausage vendor, and cheap! Let’s buy all he has and share it with the unit. Wonder what he puts in it for spice? Sorta greenish…”

This is a pitched battle with the following special rule:

Troll meat Sausages: Before deployment chose one core unit in your army, it gains the regeneration special rule, and is subject to stupidity for the entire game. In addition this unit is worth DOUBLE victory points. Characters joining the unit will not gain regeneration, but will become stupid along with the unit, until they leave the unit.

Battle point modifiers:

+1 for killing the enemy general.
+1 for controlling more table quarters than your opponent.
+1 if at the end of the game your opponents regenerating unit is fleeing or destroyed.

Scenario 3 This land is your land?

Well boys, we’ve got some gold in our pocket, and sausage in our bellies. Time to grab some land and settle down… Assuming the womenfolk don’t mind a few extra arms and tails, that is.

This is a pitched battle with the following special rules:

Table quarters are worth 200 VP's to control a table quarter in this scenario you must have a CORE unit of unit strength 5 or more in the quarter and no enemy units with a unitstrenth of 5 or more in the quarter.

Battle point modifiers:

+1 for killing the enemy general.
+1 for controlling more table quarters than you opponent.
+1 if you control an opponents’ table quarter.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

40k scenarios

Scenario 1- Football, 40k style!

Deployment: As for pitched battle as per the big rule book.

Mission rules: Infiltrate, scout, outflank, reserves, deepstrike, random game length from turn 5 onwards.

Objectives:

Primary: There will be an objective placed in the center of the table at the beginning of the game. This is represented by a small round base. This is the 'football.' Any infantry unit can pick up the football. They will carry the football until the unit is destroyed, flees, embarks into a transport, go to ground, or get pinned. At the end of the game the side with the football wins the primary objective. If neither side has the ball at the end of the game neither side gets the points for this objective.
Worth 15 points.

- Football may not be picked up by a scouting unit prior to the game beginning.
- -If a unit with the football drops it, then the opposing player may place the football anywhere within 2” of the unit. (May not place the football in impassable terrain.)
- The football can be picked up by a model in the unit if that model is in base contact with the ‘football’ at the end of their turn.

Secondary: Annihilation (VPS). Calculate victory points at the end of the game for units wiped out and vehicles destroyed for each side. Immobilized vehicles, squads below half their starting unit strength, and MCs/characters below half their starting wounds will award half their points. In order to claim this objective you must have a margin of more that 350 victory points over your opponent. Anything less is considered a draw and no points are awarded to either player. This is worth 10 points.

Tertiary: TOUCHDOWN!!! If you scored the primary objective AND the unit with the football has at least one model in the opponents’ deployment zone at the games end, then the player controlling the ball gets a bonus points. If the unit has no models in the opponents’ deployment zone then no extra points are awarded.

BP modifiers

+1 if you held the football for two entire game turns
+1 if your opponent never held the football for an entire game turn
+1 for “sacking the quarterback” (you have destroyed at least one of the opponents HQ’s)

Scenario 2: king of the Hill

Deployment: After rolling for deployment the player going first elects a long board edge as his deployment side. He can deploy up to 18 inches onto the battlefield from his table edge. After he is done deploying his forces his opponent may do the same thing from the other long board edge. This means you can start off only 12 inches from your opponent at the very beginning of the game!!

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Center of the Table

At the start of the game, place a marker at the exact center of the table. At the end of the game, count how many troops units you have at least partially within 6 inches of the center of the table, your opponent does the same. Whoever has the most units wins the primary objective. If both players have the same number of troops units within 6 inches of the center, each player gets 5 points. If neither side has a troops unit within 6”, then neither player gets points. See deployment rules for the extra stipulation. Note that troops units that cannot normally hold an objective do not count. Worth 15 points.

SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: Field of battle

At the end of the game, divide the table into quarters and determine who 'holds' more quarters. To hold a quarter you must have more non vehicle units in the quarter than your opponent. If you both have the same number, the quarter is contested and not held by anyone. (If a unit is partially within more than one quarter, roll randomly to determine which one the unit counts as being occupying. Whoever holds more quarters at the end of the game wins this objective. Worth 10 points.

Tertiary objective: Capture and control.

As per the big rulebook, One objective marker is placed in each deployment zone, during deployment. Whoever controls more objectives at the end of the game gets this objective. Worth 5 points.

BATTLE POINT MODIFIERS

+1 if you kill off all of your opponents HQ units by the end of the game
+1 if you hold all 4 table quarters
+2 if you have destroyed your opponents highest point unit by the end of the game

Scenario: Gravity Well (Seize ground with 5 objectives)

Deployment: Spearhead from the rulebook .

SPECIAL RULE: Unreal gravity. At the start of each turn roll a D6 and apply the appropriate result for the entire game turn. (Both players will be affected in their turns in the same way.)

1,2: Crushing gravity.
All infantry, and monstrous creatures become slow and purposeful.
Jump infantry move as normal infantry, (cannot fly, may move 6”).
Vehicles have a max move of 6”.
Fast vehicles, and skimmers may move a max of 12”.

3,4: Normal gravity with no effect on the game.

5,6: Decreased gravity.
All infantry and monstrous creature units gain the fleet universal special rule for the turn.
Jump infantry and bikes may move an additional 6” to their normal move.
Vehicles may re-roll any dangerous terrain checks they are required to make this turn

Primary objective: Seize ground (5 objectives), worth 15 battle points.

Secondary objective: Annihilation (victory points as per scenario 1) 10 battle points.

Tertiary Objective: Character kill

Nominate your most expensive HQ selection at the beginning of the game including dedicated transport. Your opponent does the same. If you keep your nominated HQ alive AND kill your opponents HQ you win this objective. If both are dead or both are alive at the end of the game no one gets the points. Worth 5 battle points.

BATTLE POINT MODIFIERS

+1 if you kill all of your opponents fast attack choices by the end of the game
+1 if you have all of your troops alive by the end of the game
+1 if you kill all of your opponents HQs and have all your HQs alive by the end of the game

NOTE-all mission special rules from the big book are in play for these missions, plus the special rule for gravity in the last mission.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
