Where can I find the rules for the Dragmirov Kollossus unit? It is not in the Red Block army book.

Thanks

They are in the Operation Frostbite campaign book, along with the rules for a bunch of other units including Death Dealer TacArms and Lt. Epstone, K-Burners and Guru Lucius I think, and Storm Arachns. There are also rules for transports for the first four factions which we will probably never see models for, unfortunately.

Dragomirov Kolossus cost 375pts for the squad. They are otherwise RPG Kolossus with one arm replaced with an MGauss which is identical to the special weapon carried by RPG Soldaty except for an accuracy of 3.

Dragomirov Kolossus have a special character option, Lt Dragomira who is an extra suit (total cost for squad 540AP). For this you get a plethora of extra abilities; which boost her accuracy by 2, she takes two wounds to destroy and also grant her Lt bonus leadership points even when not the commander. Recommended.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

dont forget to add that in ARC platoon + Dragomira, they can have 5 kollosi in one unit... or in a GenCol patter several 4-infantry units...

Lists are, we don't need to add to that as the info is elsewhere. ARC benefits are commonly known to any player with the Red Blok army book. Saying that Dragomira doesnt go well with ARC, the limit on using orders means the extra leadership points you are paying for are largely wasted, also Dragomirov need cover like everything else, and also need to split fire a lot.

On the other hand Frostbite does include four new army lists, one for each faction of the time, including the GenCol list mentioned, all told that book is itself essential.

Frostbite box set detracts from the game, adds new camo patterns but doesn't properly proliferate them, or add the new units back in orginal camo, with the exception of the Dotch Yaga. Its also expensive. The best way to pick up the new gear is to bits order the Frostbite rulebook here:

Pick up Operation Frostbite if you don't already have it, Fallen (which seems a reasonable assumption based on the OP). It's still only like $22 all over the web which is a fraction of the original cost, it not only gives you new rules but the Civil Engineers are a must for armies as they're free to take and generate 50 RP every round they survive until the end of. Plus you get two nice Karman Crystal terrain pieces and all the terrain tiles. At $22 it's a hell of a deal.

Doest go well in ARC... it clearly seem that even if you have read the book you still need to re-read it so I better explain again even to those "informed".... as ARC disadvantage is not as you say... the Lp poits of dragomira, help a lot, you can stil use them for fire at will drill... for each of the weapons and then gave them COver..., it is NOT a drill per activation is 1 drill at time... read again the rules,

Second split fire is no use for Dragomirov kollosi as they dont have special weapons... only type 1 or 2 infantry have special weapons type 3 have 2 different weapons only ... so there is NO need to gave dragomirov split fire...

I fpund 5 dragomirov are VERY useful in any situations... and your ideas are incorrect in principle, read again the rules.

Wow, it looks like I may have been screwing up my use of ARC as well. Wolfen, can you clarify what you mean by one drill at a time vs one drill per activation? That will change how I use my ARC pattern Commies quite a bit

Each drill has a "step" in which you give them the drill... as per the rule book:

knee to ground: " at the end of activation"
overwatch: "a t the end of activation"
Split fire: "at the beginning of the activation" AND "...allows special weapons bearer to shoot at a different moment..."

In this cases this drill have a carryover effect, i.e. they "they remain in play"

In the case of fire at will, it says (dont quote mebecasue i dont have the book at hand): " a unit lead by a hero that has not or will not move during its activation can increase the re-roll of a weapon during the salvo..."

In this case is obvious that you have to fullfill the previous the requirements... but once you fire with X weapons in ONE salvo you can fire a second Fire at will with Y weapons in a second salvo and the sindce it is just One drill at a time ---NOT PER ACTIVATION--- you fullfill the disadvantage of ARC platoon...

What you cannot do is using:

Overwatch + Split fire/Take cover/Knee to ground/Fire at will etc. As there are " drill at a time
Or
Take Cover + Knee to ground

Better explained?

Yep, that makes sense. And also means that ARC is much more useful. Thanks!

Indeed... it is very useful... and I repeat imagine 4 Dragomirov+ Dragomira... in the drop point, in front of your units... shooting 10 rockets with rerolls.... uhhh scary.... and if there is infantry is like 15 shots + re roll... spooky

I dont remember if drop point copunt as moving though... but you can drop them in the last activation, AND activating them as first unit in the following turn... if it doesnt count as moving... imagine 2 turns of that power into the enemy

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

A very enthusiatic post from Wolfen but tactically problematical.

Wolfen wrote:Indeed... it is very useful...
you mean expensive

Wolfen wrote:and I repeat imagine 4 Dragomirov+ Dragomira... in the drop point, in front of your units
and in front of your opponent, and as in a drop point likely out of cover, most drop points are exposed such as landng pads etc. Thats a giftwrapped 500+ victory points right there. Christmas comes a few days early.

Wolfen wrote:... shooting 10 rockets with rerolls.... uhhh scary....
not as scary as the return fire

Wolfen wrote:and if there is infantry is like 15 shots + re roll... spooky
yes concentrated fire helps for both weapons

Wolfen wrote:I dont remember if drop point count as moving though... but you can drop them in the last activation,
your last activation, but with so many points tied up in one unit and many other Red Blok units being overpriced the chances are the Dragomirov will not be the last units to move that turn. Expect to be outnumbered.

Wolfen wrote:AND activating them as first unit in the following turn...
with the +3 LP you do have a good chance of contesting the inititive next turn, but you need to get that to avoid losing the lot to an opportunistic Bane Golaith or Steel Tac Arm squad. You also need to pick a time when you are not wanting to go first to get to shoot first with yet another unit. All this means you have to time this not to coordinate wih exposing another vulnerable unit. Not good as you generally need to mass expose and suck up the casualties with Kolossus.
To answer you though Blitz works whether you drop in or enter on a board edge, you still get the free move regardless. Drop plus 20cm will get you in range even with Blok problems.

I do like Kolossus because of their Sovietesque 'style' and am ready to forgive thier faults, but Dragomirov are IMHO a carrier for Dragomira who is best not exposed to too much combat at one moment. You dont want to hold her back to drop, you need her on the board covering and boosting LP with the commander unit right from the beginning. The mixed weapontry helps because Dragomirov are defensive, you bring them on for the LP bonus, sitting on one of your objectives at the back claiming RP also. Technically at least the suits armamemt will pose a problem to whatever the enemy comes at you with to contest the objective.

The other suits are better for offensive operations as they are anti armour and anti light infantry espectively, you drop them in on drop zones seized by your infantry. Stelitz are the best Kolossus because they are not overpriced, you can afford to throw them forward, also the flamers really help, but unlike Spetsnaz are not limited to [25] entirely, and also cost a whole lot less. RPG can be useful but are a glass cannon that has to get real close to something nasty, which is likley to vapourise the unit with return fire.

My Dragomirov are to make up the numbers - its nice to have a 'machine gun' armed Kolossus, it feels right. However they are definately a sit back unit.

Now if you are one of those players who only plays on 2' boards you might find some mileage. But that is an 'idea' designed to paste over Red Bloks weakness and make everyone elses firepower hit on 1+ or 2+, thus eliminating variables in firepower accuracy for everyone else almost entirely.
