Ok, I'm a huge fluff nerd and and like doing everything JUST right. So, a question about coloring (because GW doesn't seem to follow their own fluff on this one).

Tech marines are allied with the Ad-Mech right? So they don't use standard coloring? I notice the GM figures are not consistant. Some do the full red with chapter shoulder pad, others have just a red head, and others have nothing.

I am finishing up my new pred crew and was trying to research proper coloring. After looking through the codex I settled on a red helmet with a red right shoulder pad (the one with the mech symbol), and the rest chapter colors. Is this fluff congruent?

And what about the tank commander? Is he ad-mech or chapter?

I don't believe so. Only the Tech-Marines are associated with the mechanicus. Crews are Chapters.

Only engineseers and techmagi field ad mech colors ( red ).

Techmarines may decide how much they want to do in chapter or ad mech colors.
So any prefixed colorscheme isnt given. GW sources have both, shoulderpad = AM rest chapter or shoulderpad=chapter and rest AM.

Engineseer associated to the IG, do use the ad mech red.
Fully flegded members of the mechanicum would alwys field their colors.

Vehicle crews are part of their unit ( IG or SM ) and will fly their units/chapters colors.
Only a few rare superheavys are attended to from a ad mech member. Any other crew is just crew.

Space marines would never give up their chapter colors, maybe add some service specific things.
Guard runs whole armies with standard guardsmen as crew. They may wear rather one colored clothes,
camo isnt useful at their job..

I'm so happy with how the red/white/gold color scheme worked out though I want to find a way to make it work.

Already using the red helmet for veterans, my chapters fluff says they have few vehicles, so maybe only veterans are trusted as crew...hmm

Red shoulder pad could be the company designator I suppose, since I'm using pictures for all the others. Hmm.
