MODS - As a suggestion; perhaps we should pin some review threads. I think I've given overviews of Infinity 2 or 3 times on this subforum now... Helldorado and Heavy Gear twice... etc.
Infinity The Game -
Well having now played both editions of this game, and with my copy of Human Sphere winging its way towards me right now along with some Reinforcements for my Yu Jing and Pan Ocs to make use of the new rules... I have some experience playing Infinity. I also took part in an event Table Top Gaming News ran earlier this year called Battle Challenge where we decided to did a sort of 'tale of X gamers' style event playing the game and building forces.
If you'd like to read some Battle Reports to get a sense of Gameplay,

Overview -
Infinity is an skirmish-scale game of miniature combat set several hundred years in Earth's future. It has been designed with a fun 'Anime' inspired aesthetic and uses as its larger figures power-suit infantry known as T.A.G.S (tactical assault gear squadrons).
Players will in the current rules complete a single mission (12" deployment) from the rulebook. There are lots of fan-made more complex missions that are excellet (plug?). Teams will typically consist of groups of up to ten models, though a player can create multiple teams if he is including more figures and has the points (these will use seperate 'order pools').
All the rules for the game are
available free online. You can also get all the
up to date armylists this way as well.
Games will typically run from 200-300pts, with players vying to force the other team into 'retreat' by causing casualties in excess of 60% of the starting forces value.
Every model in the game is a seperate activation for your force, and there is a unique mechanic in this game where you receive additional activations dependant upon how many models you have. 'Orders' as they're called can be spent by any model in your force... and you can activate a single model multiple times with orders from your pool. The only exception to this is the 'free' order your Lieutenant in your force receives. Only he can use that one.
The other unique mechanic is that any time a model spends an order in line of site of an enemy model, they receive a free 'Automatic Response Order'. These are more limited than general orders but allow you to do things like shoot back, run for cover or even just plain ol' get out of dodge. This means that dispite the game being completely 'I Go U Go' there is still things to do to react and to be engaged in your opponents turn.
There are rules for 'linking' types of models in certain Sectorial armylists in the future. That means that a group of like models can consume a single order to all performe the same action with certain restrictions. This is new ground though so don't worry about it while starting out.
Forces are quite balanced, as there's not a huge disparity or 'difference' in how the factions operate. A guy with a rifle is... for the most part....a quy with a rifle. Differences typically come into play with availabilties of certain equipment types (Thermo Optics, Heavy Infantry, etc.) That being said everyone shares a common equipment chart, so their stuff operates much the same. There are diferences, don't get me wrong. The one collected 'Alien' faction (the Combined Army) have access to certain bio and hacker weapondry.
The models pretty much speak for themselves in their 'cool factor' and you can get a respectable starter army in any of the various faction sets. My personal favorites and the reason I got into the line were the Heavy Infantry. I love the look of these guys as they're variously inspired by some of my favorite japanese designers like
Shirow Masamune.
This future of our race divides the powers of our planet into four. There's ALEPH, the AI that operates like an impartial UN to oversee the actions of the other factions. There's Yu-Jing, the eastern super-power. There's Pan-Oceania which is the collected Pacific cultures (New Zealand, Australia, etc). Finally there's the Nomads. These guys live in orbiting junk-heaps and run a chaotic society of liberal philosophies.
I'd rate this game as my current favority sci-fi Infantry Skirmish. Its got plenty of depth, the rules are fairly well realized and there's lots of nice models to paint.

Give the rules a read and proxy a game. I mean, why not... its free after all.
There you go!
