Located in the north of the Ultima segmentum. The Torthorr system holds several planets orbiting its binary star. It has a small, bleak desert planet on its periphery called Ilkana. Holding a very small population stationed there dedicated to the production and processing of petrochem deposits deep under the planets shifting sands. Otherwise there is a sparse ecosystem as well as a constant low level feral ork threat. It was believed they first appeared after a small ork raiding fleet several centuries before made landfall and tried to take control of the planets refineries. The invaders were all killed and their bodies disposed of but several months later reports of sporadic orc sightings and ork subspecies started being reported by refinery guards. Since then regular guard garrisons have become commonplace on the planet with regular cleanse missions mounted into the wilds to destroy ork infrastructure and keep their numbers at bay.

The second planet is Falcatta. A primeval world of highly active tectonic plates, volcanoes and caustic atmosphere. An adeptus mechanicus research outpost exists on the most stable part of the planets terrain near the southern poles mountains and lava flats. The world is rich in noble metals and normal minerals. Several mining guilds maintain operation either based on planet in makeshift mechanical bases mounted on tracks or in orbit from the geo-orbital spacesport. Flacatta station works as a central refinery and shipping platform for minerals being shipped off planet. With ore barges making regular exits and arrivals from it either to the capital world of Torthorr Prime or out of system to forge worlds or other manufactory planets.

The capital planet. Torthorr Prime is a larger than average terran planet. Supposedly named after a king of ancient times. 60% approximately of its surface is ocean and most of the landmass is highly urbanized. Records show in the past the land was mainly plains and grassland and prairie with the odd smattering of woodland. With several large mountain ranges spread across the 3 continents. Now though after millenia of human occupation 80% of the planets land is now encrusted with many overlapping Hive cities. The ground layer alone covering miles of layers deep down if you wanted to reach the true planets soil beneath. It currently is recorded to have 28 Hive cities each with their own spires piercing up into the higher levels of the planets atmosphere, Striving for dominance and prestige over the rest. These spires house the elite, wealthy and influential rulers of the planet whilst many millions of workforce and common people reside on ground level toiling in manufactories, administratum buildings and myriad other walks of life. Worse off even are those many dregs of society on the lower hive levels. Some not even seeing natural light all their life. many of the deeper levels are given over to crime and unregulated shanty communities. As you descend even deeper there are the mutants and abhuman dens. Burrowed deep into the oldest depths of the Hive cities. Sometimes even making their homes in cave systems cut into the planets bedrock itself. These shunned and cursed beings eke out a pittance of a life working as hired labor for gangs or trying their luck prospecting centuries and millenia abandoned mineral seams for scraps of ore to make a living off. Some day hoping for a big score to make them rich. The remaining 20% of landmass are nothing more than chemical wastelands and mountainous wilderness.

Torthorr Prime doesnt have a PDF garrison like many planets. Instead it has several fully fledged guard regiments stationed in system at any one time. These are surplus to the systems annual army and materials tithes. This is mainly due to the ever present need for military garrisons in the system. Be it fighting feral orks on Ilkana or cleansing mutant dens on the capital planet. The planets governors over time have learned such a large population system needs able troops at hand when the inevitable need arises. Two regiments are in reserve whilst a third is active at any one time. The reserve ones tend to be regiments returned from active campaign and taking on fresh soldiers and re arming/training. Or fresh conscriptions of men being trained from scratch. The active regiment fulfills the role of system wide PDF response stationing its assets where needed to guard critical infrastructure planetside and working in tandem with Imperial naval forces when needed for boarding actions when raiding smuggler ships or clearing derelicts in nearby space. As well as guarding local imperial worlds in the sector from the myriad threats of the ghoul stars.
