I am a
40k player, but I have always loved fantasy. The real goal here is to get something that my wife may be interested in playing (she used to D&D with me years ago) and I know she will fall in love with Orboros. She always loved druids, rangers, and the woodland stuff, so I think I have a good shot at getting her interested in Hordes before any other game. I have read up on the Hordes armies on
PP's site as well as Battle College, so my initial research is complete. Here's were you guys - my fellow gamers - come in. I have several questions if you don't mind taking the time:
1.) Now, the
PP line of models seems cheaper when compared to
40k or
WHFB when the ultimate goal is to field a decent sized starter army (one army mind you, not 4 like some of you maniacs do!)

I have seen two starter sets for $70.00 U.S on Ebay. Am I correct in thinking that $100 per army is decent to start with and gives you a handful of cool units to mess with? (I know that we
always need more....we're gamers, but realistically isn't 100 bucks enough when each starter is $35.00? That leaves $130.00 more to spend!)
2.) Adding units seems easier too. In
40k I can add a unit of
CSM's for 35 bucks, but I still need another unit. Hordes and Warmachine seem like you buy one of a type unit and you're good - for the most part. Also, there are plenty of $12.00 models that are characters of which you only need one. Am I wrong?
3.) Where do I begin? I know Warmachine has had MKII released, but where does Hordes lie in all this? Should I begin with the starters and wait for the revisions to buy the MKII Hordes rules? When is it due out?
4.) What the hell do I do with my Cryx starter? I was given one once by a friendly storeowner who invited me to build the models and return to play. Unfortunately, I had personal issues and since receiving the gracious gift, the store has closed. I know the two systems can be melded, but is this really a good idea for two noobs learning on their own?
Thanks in advance, guys. And any advice about the actual playing of Hordes you can give will be much welcome!
