Just a quick one really.

If the Hydra has three focus and gets hit twice does it have five focus or does it not go over three and the additional two are wasted?
If it the amount of focus given is added together does it lose any excess at the start of it's next turn?

It will gain one from each hit so would go to five focus.

No it doesn't. It will have that five focus until you use it (or lose it for some special effect for example Disruption)

The point is that you can gain infinite amount of focus but you can't allocate more than three focus per 'jack. So if the Hydra has three or more focus on it when warcaster starts to allocate his focus around Hydra can't be given any. If it has 0-2 focus warcaster could allocate focus to it to bring it to max three focus like every other 'jack.

Lesson of the story is kill the damn thing dead or don't touch it at all. Or at least have pEiryss close.

Either that, or hit it hard enough to take out the Field Generator.

So you mean to say that if for arguments sake the Hydra had five focus it could:

A. Shoot a 17" shot at POW 17.
B. Make it's two initial attacks and then make a further five attacks - Christ if only it had reach.

If this is the case that's pretty powerful.

Doesn't it have lower P+S fists? Or am I thinking that because the Manticore
can buff his own STR?

Does the Hydra have some special rule, which over rides the basic rule of removing all of the focus on your models in the maintenance phase (p.42 in the Mk2 rules preview)?

Hydra has P+S 14 fists but it can still do some nice beatdowns with it's chain attack.
All in all the only weakness I see Hydra having is it's lack of AI killing power. It can total big stuff and 2 of them can really bring the rain.

One of its weaker aspects is that it's only a RAT 5. Despite its gun being range 15 and power 15 normally with 3 focus stored, it's difficult to actually hit anything but heavies.

Still, each warcaster has a very nice way that it combos up with. Vyros, for example, can enable it to shoot through terrain without LOS with Bird's Eye for his battlegroup.

Ravyn can put Snipe on it for a total of 19" range on average.

Kaelyssa, with her spell, can also allow it to shoot through all sorts of stuff, and her feat allows it to spend a turn up front to fire off a shot at something valuable in the rear.

If I can get it into some terrain a bit up the field when using Vyros, it's ability to shoot out while completely hidden is invaluable for threat.
