They were basically Horus' own legion, before being renamed Sons of Horus and then The Black Legion. It is interesting to know that the loyalist faction of The Sons of Horus (those that didn't turn to Chaos) renamed themselves The Luna Wolves before being wiped out on Isstvan. So if you're playing them you'll have to field them as loyalist heresy era marines (though you could say that a tiny fraction of loyalist Luna Wolves survived, shunned by both The Imperium and Chaos...)
Well the luna wolves arnt actually a playable force in that they have no rules or special characters and kvelduv just said all the background really...
