Hi all
I have OOP Njal model in Runic Armor.
One of his shoulderpads is empty so now I'm thinking what must be there according to WH40K history.
If someone has pics from old codex with iconography on his shoulderpad please post it - I don't have old one

Fluff states that as a Rune Priest, Njal should be part of Logan's Great Company, as with Wolf and Iron priests. However they do get seconded to other Great Companies at the Great Wolf's behest, so whichever Great Company will work out for you

The Space Wolves codex says that:
a) All the chapters priests are always a part of the great company of the current Great Wolf.
b) The Great Wolf replaces his own chapter badge with The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars, the badge of Russ himself.

So from that, It seems like Njal should have The Wolf That Stalks Between Stars as his Great company marking.

However, as Ronin pointed out, the various priests are sent by the Great Wolf to join the other great companies in battle.
I can't find any reference to whether they adopt the heraldry of the company they are with when this happens, or if they retain the badge of the Great Wolf. Does anyone know if there's any cannon which clarifies that?

If not, then you should feel free to interpret it how you like, and chose any great company symbol you like.

Really, anyone who criticizes you for getting something that insignificant wrong is being pedantic anyway.

Priests are assigned companies in battle but still are a part of the Great Company of the Great Wolf. Therefore, they retain the Great Wolf's heraldry at all times.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Although doesn't the codex say that when multiple Great Companies go to battle together, every Space Wolf adopts the heraldry of the guy leading them

I don't believe I read that anywhere in the codex. That'd mean every squad changes their shoulder pads to the new Company? That'd be a waste of time and such, so I'd say no. Besides, no matter who is leading them, they still belong to Random Wolf Lord X. So I think that idea is ridiculous, though show me proof and I'll take back what I just said.

I don't recall specifics about that question. What I do remember reading is that each great company has their own manufacturing plants and armories and drop ships, space ships and fighting marines. So it would seem to me that priests would also be assigned to specific companys and not switch back and forth as nothing else that normally switches companys in other marine chapters does.
