I was thinking every army seems to have the option of many different paint schemes depending on what chapter, sept, regiment ect but what about Grey Knights? Has anyone ever painted them anything other than grey just for fluff purposes? So my question really is are there other daemon hunting chapters like the grey knights? There must be at least more than one chapter devoted to just killing chaos. (The reason behind this was I was thinking how awesome "Black Knights" would look and could they be justified from a fluff point of view.)

I have seen dark blood red grey knights and blue grey knights but not much other variation on them. Black could look really cool on them especially if it was a metallic black.
My grey knights are going to be boltgun metal and mithril silver with a really shiny chrome highlight and a blue wash. All justicars though are going to be the deep blood red and so are the inquisitors and brother captains.

I've seen a squad painted in awesome black NMM. I suppose doing a GK that way could be vaguely possible since the small number of models in it, but... well, they'd have to be a good and dedicated painter to be willing to do at least a dozen complicated figures in a tricky NMM colour.

I did the main colours of my GK in the standard, but all the tabbards, under layers of armour(ie: the plate that lies underneath a terminator's outer shoulder pad), and heraldry are red. It's a very small accent, but it adds a lot to the look.
Otherwise, there's nothing that says you can't use other colours. If you must explain it from a fluff perspective, just say that the armour was painted to disguise the GK's as a normal SM chapter, so as not to draw the attention of the civilians.

I've painted Black Knights before but they need quite a bit of highlighting to avoid looking unfinished.

Mine currently are the standard bolt gun with purple heads, storm bolter, and halberd part. It came out quite good I think.

I did my grey knights silver with white boots and gloves. All their tabards and standards were white with red trim. I used the white gloves and boots as them purifying their hands and feet from the chaos that they are sent to deal with.

I paint my GK Terminators black because there is enough detail in the amour and on the models so they avoid looking unfinished. Personally I think the terminators look the best painted black and the PAGK look the best obviously silver however the dark red PAGK look quite cool just not my bad.
