Hello! I just jumped back into WM Mk2 and I figured I'd try something different than the older Cygnar armies I used to use. I saw this guy riding a horse and thought he'd be cool to paint and play with. I am only going for 25 points right now. I bought some new models and ordered some "older" models. Anyhow I have read some of the articles here to get an idea on how to use/what to use with him. Here's the list. All suggestions welcome. Thanks!

List One: The Gobber is only there because I had a point left over. I figure the Ironclad will have full titl and run with the Knights so they can get flank.

the first list looks very good to me but i think i would use a stormsmith rather than rienholt.
personally i love that extra squire focus and control area with kraye, but if you do take out the squire maybe the sword knight attachment would serve you well? i was never a fan of rhupert with less than 2 units that want to advance up field.

Kraye works really well with Hunters. Being able to move-shoot-move with them makes them last a lot longer than they normally do, and Guided Fire means they'll almost always hit jacks.

I haven't had a chance to read the Cyclone's rules yet, so I can't say anything about that.

Ironclads are pretty good for their points, and they're awesome with Full Tilt. But if you're going to run one with Sword Knights to get the Flank bonus, you're much better off running them next to a jack that has reach. A Stormclad is expensive, but they're MAT 7 with a P+S 19 weapon, and with Full Tilt they threaten 15", 17" on the feat turn.

Go with the Squire over Rhupert. It'll be much more effective when you're running Kraye.

I've been wanting to run a couple Grenadiers and some Trenchers with Kraye, but I don't have the models yet. A couple Grenadiers in B2B with a couple trenchers and under Guided Fire can put out 6 POW 12 3" blast templates with boosted attack rolls a turn.

I started Cygnar just for Kraye, actually. I'm hoping to go, but it will depend on my job schedule, and whether I've gotten enough hours or not. I probably won't know until a month-2 weeks beforehand.

Trauma, that's a tough call. The B-13 is really nice. You've got that sentinel in there though, so that will cover anti-infantry pretty well. Is the GMCA the same points cost as a Journeyman? Sword Knights in Defensive Line or whatever plus Arcane Shield are pretty nice.

I re-started Cygnar for Kraye too, lol. How about I drop the Knights altogether, drop the Sentinel, grab a Hunter and Jr. and go just with just jacks?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am testing this out tonight. I only want to do small games so I can get familiar with Kraye. Haley and Siege I can run with the changes still, no problem. Thanks everyone for the input. I'll report back how I did after this evening!

Pop your boost ranged spell and you've got 10 to 24 boosted superduper shots per turn, then skedaddle outta there.

I agree with it being a very great list, just not as fun for everyone. I played with the wrong Vlad against this on 15 pts, never got near them, as they could keep themselves at 14" of me, then shoot me, then walk 5" further, while I could only threat 8.5" tops.

Well I played my list twice last night. I lost both games. :( I am re-learning Warmachine after a 2 year hiatus. Anyhow the first game was against Mercs with the Dwarf guy Ghordson? with "landslide as his feat. I was out numbered in this game. The mission was "No man's Land".

Highlights:

Cyclone used the Aoe shots to keep the guys out of the no man's land for a few turns

Hunter took out a bokur (wounded badly by the Cyclone) and his jack marshaling client.

Ironclad trampled the rest of the reach guys who were nicely lined up

B-13....are....awesome! Almost single handedly killed a whole unit of hammer guys with reach and that had a shield wall ability? ARM 18

Lowlights:

Said B-13 were out of position from the real fight, though they performed well, they were sorely needed elsewhere.

Cyclone bit the dust to a driller

Kraye got caught in a landslide and took a hammer to the noggin.

Hindsight:

Should have use deployment better, made smarter decisions. I set up second.

Next game was against Mercs with Dwarves and gun mages

Ashlyn was the caster. The mission was "Break the line". Control two territories on you half of the table while holding one on your opponents. Boo to this!


Highlights:


Deployed better this time using the Cyclones Aoe's to funnel the hammer guys the long way around an obstacle.

B-13 and Ironclad destroyed said hammer guys again! Charging, impact hits and tremor. All attacks were boosted do to the feat.

Kraye, Hunter, and Jr shot up a Nomad that got into my territory.


Lowlights:

I lost cortexes on my Cyclone and Hunter, though the Hunter could run without it!

Gunmages capturing two territories at once. :( And Ashlyn hiding behind a brick wall/ruins with ridiculous defense bonuses in my territory. Opponent sacked his jack so that I couldn't get a bead on her. he knew he would have claimed the scenario due to him being the 1st player and the scenario ending at the end of the 1st player's 3rd turn if the condition's were met. Even if I could, her defense was too high to do anything. :(

I lose having only two territories and my opponent having three.

Hindsight and afterthoughts:

I wish I had added some foot infantry. Theses new scenarios are very unkind if you don't pay attention and don't have the bodies. I was playing and wishing I had taken a defender and or some sword knights. The cyclone can not handle jack's armor reliably. I was wishing for Haley or Stryker sometimes during the game (crutches) but knew that this caster has a learning curve. I think I will try him again but build his list on pure shooting. Defender, Cyclone, Hunter to make use of guided fire. I might run trenchers and add in the Grenadier for reloaded aoe's. I like the game now but it takes a getting used to. I like that there are "scenarios" to play instead of just caster kill.

That said, having the mission condition's being met starting on the end of the 1st player's turn is brutal. Like I could have gotten in and beat up those gunmages in the second game but I ran out of time. That is something else I need to get used to. Thanks for the responses folks!

I don't have my book handy, but I thought a unit could only hold one territory in the missions?

Sounds like it was fun.

I need to try out the missions in my next few games as well.

They change things up quite a bit.
