Help me find this fluff backstory, that I recall reading somewhere- roughly paraphrased as my memory and imagination may have added more details to this bit of Orky fluff:

Something like

Orks thrive in war. Not just enjoy doing it, but actually thrive, grow, and benefit from it. Even worse; putting up a fight only makes resulting Orks you later face STRONGER. When an Ork is killed, his spores scatter and settle, and will sprout a new ork rather quickly IF its 'mushroom' sprout either A) detects NO Waaaagh psychic energy generated by numbers of Orks nearby, OR B) if waaagh! energy is high enough concentration to trigger its immediate respawning. Thus Orks respawn rapidly if A) all orks have been wiped out, and things need to start anew from a fresh start, or B) a waaagh!! buildup is ramping up to mighty levels, and their originators' design triggers them to bolster the waaagh even faster/greater in some titanic far-spanning struggle.

Orks from situation "A" spawn with the predesigned ratio percentage of squigs, snotlings, gretchin, and finally Orks- with Meks and Doks and Weirdboys rarely emerging for variety.- the gene-implated "kulture" springing from ground level anew. These are standard Ork populations, and how Orks can re emerge as a never ending threat even IF wiped out to the last Ork over and over again.

Orks from situation "B" are the special exception. These Orks will spawn 100% as Orks and their "Oddboys", and the latent psychic Waaagh! energy surrounding the ork as it spawns not only rapidly boosts the regions' numbers, but boosts the Orks' overall size when it emerges. Thus if the Orks on a world are stuck in a long term stalemate, over orky generations, they will get bigger, and bigger- by design- until the stalemate is broken- And the Orks.. who "wuz made fer fightin" afterall, triumph pretty much exactly the way their creators intended them to.

Thats the Gist of the setup, now for the remembered fluff I'm looking for:

Orks from [planet X] have been struggling for so long now [in some neverending war] that they have grown titanic in size; where Boys are born as big as typical Nobs, and Warbosses are truly enormous- often Dreadnought sized. Something will eventually break, and it wont be the Orks.

.. or something like that.

Does this whole line of fluff ring a bell to anyone? Was it a previous codex, maybe? It was/is pretty kewl fluff, in any case.

Has to be previous codex.
I remember something along those lines too and the only ork books I have are the last two codexes

In the 3rd Edition codex it says that regular boys are the size of Skarboys on such planets. Since they've pretty much been thrown in with full-scale nobs it seems likely there's fluff supporting what you said.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I vaguely recall hearing such a thing myself, but I only have the 4th Ed Codex, Lexicanum and discussions about Orks physiology on this very forum.
