The Dindrenzi will sweep the Terrans from the stars in due time. When you feel the safest then our fleet will strike!

Great paint job.

My mega-set has been hanging in the basement, I finally got around to washing and building the fleets this week and I have a bunch of miss casts. :(

How did you decide which blocks to paint drak grey, grey, and light grey? I've been blocking out the scheme in my head and I'm worried that it'll end up looking like a check board.

Thanks for the kind words on the paint. It's an idea that hit me after looking at an Aztek pattern NCC-1701 model.

I based the model in the middle shade and then took a lighter gray and hit blocks completely at random working from one side to the other. I added a little black and repeated the process a couple more times. It's completely random. I actively attempted to avoid symmetry.

Sorry to hear about your miscasts. The Spartan has people over at the Spartan forum that respond to rules questions and will also steer you to customer service. They have good reputation for replacing miscasts fast.

How difficult were the ships to assemble? I believe I saw a couple helpful articles from them relating to the assembly.

Overall the line is good but not 100% trouble free. These are multi-part resin and metal models and I would not recommend them for beginners. The way Spartan chose to cast them leaves a little bit of work left to be done to make everything fit just right. If you have experience with resin models and have a reasonable toolbox (sandpaper, a razor saw and a Dremel tool) you will be just fine.

The Dindrenzi ships in general are a little peculiar in design and the Battleship to be specific is tricky and counter-intuitive to build. It's designed with a gap between the two main hull halves that's not immediately obvious from the pics and instructions. One is advised to go online to the Spartan site and check the articles on their forum thoroughly before building this model. The other races are simpler to build with the Aquans being the easiest. The Terrans are straightforward with no surprises and the Sorylians are a little trickier with some metal pieces on the tail and a battleship with flat joining surfaces and no alignment pins or other aids.

Still, once built up the pieces are nice looking and full of character. I'm finishing up my Terrans paint job and then will be working on the Sorylians and Aquans!

Very sweet paint job. the colors go togather really well and shows the detail of the ships. I can't wait for the Directorate to come out with ships.
