Okay, so the Horus Heresy books are FILLED with Primarchs.
Horus Rising has like 3.
Mechanicum features Dorn.
But where did all the Primarchs disappear to in 40k?
I know Sanguinius (think i spelt it wrong ) died uboard Horus' ship.
Horus was Slain by the Emperor
I think Gulliman's corpse is entombed at Macragge ( one of the Ultramarines novel says that).
What happened to the rest?
My 40k pal said that Dorn was slain and that most of the "traitor" Primarchs asceded to daemonhood, but I have never read much about their fates.

Sanguinus: Killed by Horus.
Corax: Flew away into space after the Heresy and never returned.
Vulkan: Disappeared without a trace.
Khan: Disappeared, possibly captured by the Dark Eldar or lost in the Webway.
Dorn: Killed in action, only his hands were recovered.
Guilliman: Mortally wounded and poisoned by Fulgrim, currently in stasis on Macragge and is apparently recovering.
Lion: Supposedly asleep inside The Rock.
Ferrus: Killed by Fulgrim early in the Heresy.
Leman Russ: Disappeared into the Eye of Terror along with the Space Wolves 13th company to hunt down the Traitor Legions.
Horus: Killed by the Emperor.
Angron: Daemon Prince of Khorne, temporarily slain by Grey Knights on Armageddon.
Fulgrim: Possessed by a Daemon, trapped inside his own body, living with his guilt and regret. Likely insane.
Mortarion: Daemon Prince of Nurgle, ruler of a Daemon World.
Magnus: Daemon Prince of Tzeentch, ruler of a Daemon World.
Perturabo: Daemon Prince, ruler of Medrengard.
Alpharius/Omegon: Supposedly slain by Guilliman, but rumoured that he/his twin is still alive.
Night Haunter: Supposedly slain by a Callidus Assassin after the Heresy.
Lorgar: Daemon Prince, ruler of Sicarus.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

(Not slain but simply banished to the Warp for ten thousand years[??] by a hundred Grey Knight Terminators) Night Haunter: Supposedly slain by a Callidus Assassin after the Heresy. (He WAS killed, or it's fairly certain. Said to have seen his killer in a vision and let himself die to prove something or other.)

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Many (those many being the Ultramarines, Inquisition etc) believe that Guilliman is healing.
I said Angron was only temporarily slain.
Contact was lost with the Callidus Assassin sent to kill Konrad Curze before she completed her mission. Because neither of them were heard from again, he was assumed slain.

The Primarchs first really showed up in the late 80s/early 90s in the Realms of Chaos books that told the story of the Horus Heresy (along with the Sensei and the origin of the Emperor).
The 4 daemon primarchs actually had stats and models in Epic Space Marine (early 90s).
The rest got histories in the early 2000s in a series of articles called Index Astres. The stories weren't all that good but if you're interested you should be able to track down the books through friends or on ebay.

But most of the info has been uploaded to various wikis.

There was also a model in the early 90's for Leman Russ. It was pretty crappy looking by today's standards. I have the model somewhere, if I manage to dig him up, I will post a link.
