This is my first vassal attempt and first battle report post.

Eldar army.

Faseer - Doom, guide, spirit stones, runes of witnessing
Firedragons - x5, Exarch(heavy flamer)
Pathfinders - x5
Dire Avengers - x5
Dire Avengers - x6, Exarch w/ shimmer shield
Wraithlord - EML + 2xflamers, wraithsword
Falcon - Pulse laser, EML, Shuriken cannon, spirit stones, holo-field
Falcon - Pulse laser, EML, Shuriken cannon, spirit stones, holo-field

Space wolves army. (to my best estimates)

Rune priest
Wolf priest
15 blood claws - power fist + 2x plasma pistols
15 blood claws - power fist + 2x plasma pistols
5 man bike squad - attack bike(multi-melta), power fist, melta gun

Deployment. (1st picture)

I win the roll to deploy first and place the fire dragons and farseer in one falcon with a unit of dire avengers in the other. I place my wraithlord pretty much smack bang in the centre with a small unit of 5 dire avengers in some woods behind the wraithlord.

He then deploys his bikes on the far flank with the two large units holding the centre, each unit lead by a character.

Finally my pathfinders infiltrate a few inches outside my deployment zone in some ruins

Eldar turn 1 (2nd picture)

The farseer guides his falcon and the wraithlord moves forwards with the dire avengers moving behind him. The two falcons shuffle forward to bring the shuriken cannons into range. The falcons, wraithlord and pathfinders all open up on the space wolves infantry, killing 6 from one squad and 2 from the other (SW player can't make saves apparently), the dire avengers run forward to make up for an average terrain roll.

Space Wolves turn 1 (3rd picture)

The unit of bikes turbo-boost right down the table edge (hoping to sneak up on my falcon next turn with their melta weapons) The two infantry squads move forwards and then run trying to reach the terrain. An uneventful turn.

Eldar turn 2 (4th picture)

The farseer dooms the bike squad and guides his falcon. The wraithlord meanders forwards again with the dire avengers close behind. The two falcons adjust sightly to get LoS through/around the ruins (still keeping under 6" as to fire everything.

The pathfinders open fire on the bikers, with their the rending and doomed status they manage to kill 2 bikers and a failed save causes a wound on the attack bike. I really want those bikes gone so i open up with the guided falcon aswell, killing 2 outright with the pulse laser (i sadly missed with the EML) the last biker (the attack bike) however took a wound from the shuriken cannon, with only one wound left he rolls the die... and its a 1... 1 kill point to me. The wraithlord splats one more marine with his EML while the other falcon and dire avengers manage to bring down 4 marines from the other squad.

Space wolves turn 2 (4th picture)

After loosing his bikers the marine player decides he is fighting a loosing battle and moves one unit of blood claws towards the wraithlord, firing his plasma pistols wildly into the air and missing him completely. The other squad rolls badly on terrain and moves forwards towards my Falcon at the back. The first claw unit then decides to charge the wraithlord (hoping the power fist can bring it down) unfortunately the unit is about an inch out of range.

Turn 3 (both armies) (5th picture)

The Farseer guides his falcon and dooms the unit closest to the wraithlord. The wraithlord moves forwards into a decent flaming position while the dire avengers back up a bit to reamain over 12" away from the unit in the ruins. The flacon move 12" to take up better positions.

The wraithlord begins the shooting phase with his first flamer, catching 6, with doom, he causes 6 wounds, 2 marines are killed, he then fires his EML killing one more marine. The two falcon hope to help out, firing their pulse lasers and EML (plasma) defensively. The combined firepower wipe out 5 more marines with only the hero left standing. The rangers open up on the hero scoring 5 wounds (no rending sadly) the SW player manages to make all five armor saves.

The wriathlord then charges the lone marine and impales him upon his wraithsword.

The marine turn is fast, after the falcon hovered away they about turn and move towards the wraithlord (getting tangled in barbed wire and tripping over rubble in the process) and roll a bad terrain distance, their plasma pistols fire and hit, but fail to wound, finally they are also found to be out of charge range.

Eldar turn 4 (6th picture)

The farseer guides the fire dragons and dooms the last marine unit. The wraithlord moves forwards. Everything moves to surround the marines (fire dragons and dire avengers getting out off the falcons) except the pathfinders who just sit still.

The combined firepower of my army wipes his unit off the board, the amount of saves proving to much for the marines to stand.

Conclusion

Eldar 5-0 (kill points)

This being my first vassal attempt and first battle report attempt i chose a pretty simple battle from last week, the marine player was trying something new, his lack of ranged weaponry was a bad call, but he seemed confident that his 3+ save and numbers would carry him across the board and be able to wipe out my falcons to get to the juicy T3 units within. This was a friendly game and afterwards we had a good laugh about him not killing anything and decided he should stick to his regular marine lists.

This was also the first time i took 2 falcons and no warp spiders in such a small game. IMO they worked well, they got lucky with hits and wounds, and they should be able to do alot of damage even with normal rolls. I missed the spiders though as i usually have two units, the amount of shots i missed out on and mobility was made up with the falcons, but i still love those little guys.

a quick question....how many ponts where played? it kinda looks like either the space wolf player didn't know he can have tanks too or he was outgunned on points.

But still, i like the pics for the report, they are pretty nice showing on what got beat down and where

Eldar totaled 996.

Not sure on the points cost of some of his stuff...
30 marine approx 450?
2 characters approx 300?
bikes approx 200?
plus a few sergeant weapons and plasma pistols should take it to 1k

He has vehicles in other lists, but he was trying something different (larger games he has Land raiders and Dreads)

The space wolf blood claws are about 500 for both probably a little over, it depends what he got his rune priest and wolf priest they start at 100 each, but i dun think it was a good list against you'r mech one lol, you ate him pretty well from the report looks, got to protect those marines in order to get them in close!

Some transports would have been better but i think some long fangs or a pred might have been good too for some ranged firepower.

shouldn't the bike squad have had 3+ cover saves from turbo boosting? I'm a bit curious as to why he didn't take those saves from the pulse laser, or rending ranger hits?

Xom finds this thread hilarious!

*shrug*
Either he took the saves and failed them of he didn't bother taking the saves, either way i wasn't paying attention...
By the time i had said "thats X AP 2 hits, X AP 3 hits and X AP 5 hits" i was checking LOS for my other units and trusting him to roll appropriate saves and remove casualties (theres alot of trust in my FLGS)
