I'm from the future. The future of space

So I impulse bought some Dark Elf Cold One knights. I don't really see myself using them as dark elves, so who's a good candidate for 40k for cold ones? I'm starting up playing 40k using other skirmish rules/1st edition Rogue Trader rules, etc., so any army is a possibility as making a small force is certainly possible.

I remember seeing some picture of an IG rough rider with a lizard like mount. Eldar Exodites are another option.

Any other ideas? Who should ride space raptors?

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

I think you've hit the nail on the head with the exodites and the guard. maybe some kind of salamander's derived marine chapter (i mean if the space puppies get to ride giant wolves then i don't see why other chapters cant ride their pets to war!)

Once more down to the beach, dear friends, once more,
To drown our sorrows with our English beer!
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of alcohol blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

They could be DE warp beasts.

IG rough riders would work.

Space Marines "Counts as" bikers?

I like the rough riders idea, but I can see a space marine chapter or Exodite Eldar riding them too. Though the first thing that came to mind were chaos marines

They look too small for SM. Using them for exodites is quite common. A touch big for warpbeasts, but since they can't shoot LoS isn't to your advantage so shouldn't have any complaints. Could be used as one of the daemons?

Oh, I'm not asking rules related stuff at all. I'm talking strictly from a background perspective. Who, in the 40k universe, would ride something like a cold one? I guess pretty much anyone could as all you need is a planet where you can capture and train cold ones.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'm going to have to go reread about warp beasts. Perhaps a mixture of 40k eldar and WFB dark elf parts would make for some pretty cool fallen eldar.

Hmmm...

exodites would on maiden worlds and on the fringes

and I would say that humans on feral worlds would

and orks would do it for the lolz

I wish my lawn was emo...
Then it would cut itself.

In the end, SoB are uppity female canines who enjoy their faith in the emperor so much, I'd say they themselves are no longer truly human. They've given up normal life in exchange to become bolter-bitches.

I dug out my old DE codex and read the entry on warp beasts. I don't think the cold ones quite fit. They're too natural looking for warp beings captured by wytches.

So I'm thinking Exodites. I'm thinking of grabbing some dire avenger shuriken catapults with scopes off of eBay. I'm going to get out my 1st and 2nd edition stuff and read up on Exodites.

But Orks... they would do it for lulz. And on untrained cold ones at that.

Rough Riders, or Flesh Hounds of Khorne. Something that is Cavalry, but not something as tough as a Thunderwolf.

Actually, a snakebite clan might use cold ones instead of warbikkes. Although the rest of the Ork would use a them for, as stated before, the lulz.

Has there been any exodite background fiction published in the last 10 years? I finished reading the stuff from 1st and 2nd edition. 3rd edition codexes had pretty much no background stuff in them. What about the 4th edition Eldar codex? Any Exodite stuff in there?

If you're playing Rogue Trader then pretty much anyone can ride them, I'd imagine.

Heck there are Chaos Renegades riding horses.

Exodites would be cool, as would a very medieval Imperial Guard.

The asnwer certainly appears to be "anyone who wants to." With the only published examples being exodites and guardsmen.

I am going to go with Eldar. It was in the dark last days of 2nd edition that I started an Eldar army. And in the equally dark days of the beginning of third that I sold them off because there was no way I could afford the models I'd need to get back to a 1500 point army.

Now that I've abandoned GW's rules completely, I'm feeling like telling the story of a band of Exodites and some Craftworld allies in miniature.

Thanks everyone!
