so i have been thinking of creating a cool game board with a theme: space ship hangar bay!
a space ship fighter/bomber bay, with space craft, blast doors, cargo lifts, air locks, transport cranes, trucks (like airport vehicles), loaders, fuel trams etc -think deathstar bay but ALOT bigger
i was thinking it could be almost like planet strike, the idea is that the enemy is flying craft into the bay to disgorge 'special ops' to attack
(i dnt like the idea of boarding torpedoes too much and teleport should be rare)
on that note how (in 40k) do fighters exit and enter carriers?
is the hanger bay in vacum or is there some kid of force field???
i cnt find much info

Awesome concept! Can;t wait to see it up in the WiP/Blog forum.
As for your question, hangar bays can have their pressure equalized with a field of some sort. Although, I can;t imagine many ships without the ability to close the hangar off with blast doors if need be.

How so? Yes, the title is misleading, but he's asking about how to translate elements of BFG into something for 40k. He follows up with a question concerning the fluff for starships.

Ah okay. Just saw the title and the space craft/blast doors/ cargo lifts ect.
So he's talking about having a 40k match IN a ship?

HE has a NAME. you sound like my students lol
yes, i am propose to have a 40k game inside a ship
more to the point, a ships hangar bay
my first thoughts were a force field with blast door back up, but although i have seen many space ship hangars (starwars, battlestar, aliens, startrek to name a few) i have no BFG rulebook so i have no 40k reference.

honestly Sir,
this is a GREAT idea, but there is a slight problem. You can't play a normal game of 1500 pts inside a hangar bay, it would need a bit of trimming for the rules.
For an invasion I'd see more suitable skirmish rules rather than the normal ones of 40k. Or... if you want to make clear about a boarding assault, use just troops. Anything else woldn't fit inside a corridor.
EDIT
Don't know about the fluff for the hangars... they could have launch tubes as in Battlestar Galactica. The hangar bays seems more launch tubes than open hangars with energy fields.

well actually that depends on whether i make them pay for their thunderhawks ;-)
the mission is to invade the hangar and break through the airlocks into the ajoining corridors and prehaps gain control of the nearest 'turbolift'.
no bikes, transports, tanks etc might let dreads

I suppose heavy support is out of the question... (No basilisks )
