Me and my mate Alex decided to have a battleforce match with 1 HQ each. I had Dante, he had O' Shovah. We played an annihaltion game for kill points. Set up table quarters. I was deep striking my Assault Squad and infiltrated my Scouts and had a squad of 10 Tactical Marines in my Rhino. He left his Kroot and Stealth Suits in reserve and had his Fire Warriors in his Devilfish.

I won the roll to go first but he stealed the initiative (damn his lucky rolling)

Turn 1 Tau Empire
Simply moved his units forward this turn. Didn't do anything else.

Turn 1 Blood Angels
I too just moved forward doing nothing else. I left a squad of 5 Tactical Marines behind a building in my corner as backup.

Tau 0-0 Blood Angels

Turn 2 Tau Empire
He moved everything forward. His Kroot came in right next to my Scouts. He managed to explode my Rhino with his Smart Missile System (again he gets lucky, rolling a 6 to hit, penetrate and then explode)) and the explosion kills two 2 Tactical Marines (I am an incredibly unlucky roller). He crushes my Scouts with his Kroot in close combat with me only getting 2 kills back in return.

Turn 2 Blood Angels
Dante charged towards his Devilfish and immobilised it with his Peredition Pistol. My 8 Tactical Marine squad from the Rhino killed 4 more Kroot but he passed the leadership test to stop them from running off the table. I kept my 5 man squad hidden.

Tau 2-0 Blood Angels

Turn 3 Tau Empire
His Fire Warriors got out of the immobilised Devilfish and fired a flurry of shots at Dante but failed to take even one wound off of him. He did kill Dante however with a Fusion Gun which instant deathed him (damn Dante not being an Eternal Warrior even after living for thousands of years - hurry up new Codex so he has Eternal Warrior, I hope). It was looking incredibly bleak for me now. His Kroot killed another Tactical Marine from the 8 man squad.

Turn 3 Blood Angels
My Assault Marines arrived. I revealed my 5 man squad and fired Plasma and Bolter shots at his Fire Warriors, killing 4. My 7 man squad destroyed all but 2 Kroot and a Shaper (on 2 wounds). My Assault Marines killed his Battlesuit with pistol fire (amazingly). Nothing much I could do.

Tau 3-1 Blood Angels

Turn 4 Tau Empire
He killed 4 Assault Marines, leaving just the Seargeant. He wiped the 7 man squad down to 3 and the 5 man squad stayed intact. He still had an immobilised Devilfish, some Fire Warriors, Kroot, O' Shovah and Stealth Suits compared to my 9 Marines. His O'Shovah assaulted my Assault Marine Sergeant hoping to finish him off. He failed and my Assault Marine Sergeant instant deathed him with a mighty blow from his Power Fist. Amazing how both our HQ were killed via Instant Death!!!

Turn 4 Blood Angels
I killed his 2 remaining Kroot and the Shaper failed his leadership test so he ran off the table. My 5 man squad fired at his Fire Warriors killing only 1 after missing all the Bolter shots and only wounding with the Plasma Gun. I was out of range with my Plasma Pistol.

Tau 3-3 Blood Angels

Turn 5 Tau Empire
He killed another 2 Tactical Marines to leave my 3 man squad with just 1 marine with a Missile Launcher. He then shot down my 5 man Squad to 2. He foolishly left my Assault Marine Sergeant alone.

Turn 5 Blood Angels
I charged his Fire Warriors and got my Missile Launcher Marine into cover. My Assault Sergeant was killed by his Devilfishs Flechette Discharger but did wreck it as well. My 2 Tactical Marines killed his Fire Warriors as they failed to beat me in an Initiative Test when i won combat. Amazingly I had turned this around and was winning!

Tau Empire 4-5 Blood Angels

Turn 6 Tau Empire
He killed my 2 Tactical Marines with his Stealth Suits. He had nothing else so did nothing else.

Turn 6 Blood Angels
With just one Marine with a Missile Launcher remaining, there was nothing I could do. We agreed to play another turn without rolling for it to decide whether we continued.

Tau 5-5 Blood Angels

Turn 7 Tau Empire
It was all on this. He fired all he had at my Marine who went to ground for a 3+ cover save. I was playing for a draw. It came down to a final Fusion Gun shot from one of his Stealth Suits. 3+ cover save for the draw but I rolled a 1. Trust me to do that.

Final Result: Tau 6-5 Blood Angels

Great game and considering at one point it was 6 Marines vs over half of his army I think I did quite well there (shame about my incredibly unlucky rolling in the first few turns and his incredibly lucky rolling in the first few turns).

Interesting report, thanks for posting.

However Farsight (O'shovah) can't be taken in less than 1500 point games, and when you field him your army can't contain kroot (among other things).

Also the transport is called a Devilfish, Hammerhead is the tank

Well don't feel bad. When you rematch him in a couple months the game will go something like this:

Turn 1:
Tau pack up and stay packed until 6th ed.

Game over.

I agreed to let him have Farsight so that didn't matter. Thanks for correcting me on transport though. I've edited it so they are now changed from Hammerhead to Devilfish
