I'm new to warmachine, I haven't even played a game yet but i wanted to showcase the first piece of my army i bought and painted. I am a long time 40k player and finally caved and started a new hobby. I still haven't chosen which warcaster to start with or what i want for the rest of the army.
I have to say I'm very impressed with the packaging of plastic by privateer press. It didn't require to much cleaning to get paint ready. There is just a different quality compared to games workshop. I really hope they release more warjacks and squads in plastic because i cant stand trying to glue pewter together.

Right now I'm buying warmachine 1 unit at a time and painting it before moving on to the next. I've also promised myself that I will stick to just 1 army. I'm going purly by looks when i pick things as i learn the rules, next on my list is either the warcaster with the sniper rifle or the warcaster with the big staff and cloak wrapped around her.

That's a sweet paint job.
When I get around to updating the cygnar entries hopefully you have that picture in
the galleries so I can use it.

Surly, i still gotta base it and figure out a way to paint a white swan on top without clumping.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loved the new Cyclone model
The freehanding wasn't as difficult as I had anticipated. It's an awfully big blank space; just thin your white down, and be ready to blue back over some of it in the event of mistakes.
On a completely different note, is anyone else loving the quality of camera phones these days? Not to mention this photoshop app is phenominal!

Those cyclones look good, I'm still painting my back log before getting one of my own.
Did either of you magnetize the arms? I'm just wondering how much space there is for the magnets.

as a matter of fact, I did! If you look on the right arm in the rear shot, you can see a little bit of greenstuff between the blue plate attached to the metal storm gun and the forearm of the 'jack. I put magnets on the bottom, so they're mostly out of sight when the guns are off. With a consistent coat of paint and a little greenstuff, they go unnoticed.

Oh I like what you did with the back mixing in the bronze on yours. I just based mine on the privateer websites 360 degree view with an all silver back.
I'm really mad at how the box shows 1 head on the cyclone and the card and website have a different one so now mine has the wrong head. Ah well.

I had to laugh when I saw 'new hobby'. It's not a new hobby, its the wargaming hobby, just with a different companies product! (not looking to pick a fight, just found that funny)
Like the cyclone a lot, the more I keep seeing of Cygnar, the more I think they are awesome. I'm pretty locked into Cryx, but if I wasn't... hoo boy. Maybe after I finish everything else...

Yeah i'll give you that one, not a new hobby but to my wife's dismay my hobby has definitely broadened.
Now that the cyclone is done (favorite warmachine model so far) whats next... I'm thinking about picking up a warcaster now but I'm not sure how i wanna run it. I want a shooty army. I really like Sloan, but Haley is tied in my mind.

Haley and eHaley can both support a shooty army. So can Stryker and Caine. eCaine isn't as good a support caster, because he probably wants to use all his FOC. Siege isn't bad either.

Me want! I'm working with a small Khador and Merc army atm, since I just got back into the game, but the new Cyclone, Thunderhead and Ol Rowdy, plus good old Alistar Cane makes me wanna make a Cygnar force too.
I'm not the competitive playing type, who builds winning armies, and has to win all the time. I pretty much buy the piece that I like, and try and make forces around those, with most any game I play. And I'm lucky that I play at a club where fun is emphasized more than being toooo serious and snotty. I've always been more into these gamed for the hobby, than the games anyway.
I also can't stand half the snot-nosed kids who play this, and 40k these days, who care about nothing but winning, and are walking calculators and rulebooks, who must win or throw fits and act like tools. There's no fun in the competitive scene for any of these games these days, for us old timers, because of the cheesy win or go home kids who play these days too.
