Hi, I'm new to the site. I've been getting into building alot of city terrain recently, but one thing im still having trouble with is metal grate. I just can't seem to find the right material/cost ratio, I would really like to start building modular catwalks to go between the buildings, and I'd like to make the flooring on it out of the grating. Also, one more thing, when telling me what to use for grate, could you make some suggestions about what to use for hand railings too? My terrain models are getting to be pretty detailed now, so im looking for something really realistic looking too. Thanks ahead of time!

Welcome to Dakka! I'd agree with Death Gear- window screen is cheap, and looks good when painted up.

For railings, have you thought of guitar string? Fiddely, but would work well as a wire barrier.

I haven't thought of guitar string, but for barbed wire, I use framing wire, it comes already wrapped in 3/4" spirals so all you have to do is pull, cut and glue! and it's cheap at Walmart or Michael's maybe.

Yeah, for grating window screen is great.

For Railings you could use that stuff that's like plasticard, but it comes in long slender sticks. I don't remember what it's called.

And welcome, follower of the foul, traitorous Emperor.

I went to my dad's today, thinking he'd have screen, no such luck, looks like I'll be heading to the home depot. I'm brand new to this forum, and forums in general actually, i have some crappy camera pics of a couple of pieces I've made in the last couple days, but I'm not sure how to start my own gallery here. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
