Everyone I have played with has been playing for a few years. I'm relatively new to the game, but what I can tell you is that your play style and even list choice will vary a good amount based on your caster.
As an example, I played a game yesterday against Legion (Hordes) and was using Stryker. Regular Stryker has Earthquake. I pretty much inched my way to my opponents Warlock, arcnode casted Earthquake, knocked over his Warlock, and charged with a full focus buffed Ironclad which was pretty much an auto-win, even with his Warlock having 3 fury on her.
Had I been playing with
eStryker, I would have probably been Overloading and going bananas with him. At the same time, I probably would have been more aggressive with my jacks than I already was being, along with not being so upset about my
GMCA being eaten by some random Hordes beast that flew over a building and into the forest. *sigh*
Nonetheless, from what I gathered, every caster plays different and will support a different army and playstyle. There's nothing saying you can't take Sorcha with a Karchev mega jack list, but you may fair better with a modified list to compliment Sorcha and her playstyle/stat line/spells/etc etc.
Hope that sort of helps.
