Hi,

I posted in this thread yesterday:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/279934.page

I was the second reply in the thread, so that narrows down when I posted it to about a 7 minute window. I'm pretty sure I only clicked "Reply" once, but after taking a long time to load, it appeared I had double posted.

I then clicked on the SECOND of my two messages, to edit it to say something like "My first double post on Dakka! Noooooooooooooooo!". However, when it finally loaded, the FIRST message had been edited.

When I checked that thread today, I saw that neither of my posts are there at all! They're also not in my posting history from what I can see.

The case of the disappearing posts! What say you, Sherlock?

This is an odd bug that is fully understood but a pain in the arse to track down properly. You have described it perfectly, but the post (as it was edited to be double post) was deleted by a mod.

If it happens again (until I finally fix the damn thing) here is what to do:
When you see two posts appear, it means someone has posted whilst your post was being processed and this has confused the cache for your viewing of the thread. If you see you have double posted simply click refresh. This will remove the fake duplicate post and show the missing post.

If it is still a problem after clicking refresh, then it is probably a genuine double post so you can edit it to state as such or use the moderator alert button to request it to be deleted.

Ah, thanks! I figured it was just some interesting quirk like that... but I thought I would bring it up in case you didn't know about it.

I'll click refresh before editing out my own post next time, dammit
