aka Toledo area? just wondered if any of you exist up here or if its all just deer and raccoons... I'm not from around here so I don't know who is anyone, just a good hunch of why not to live in Northwest Ohio... but here I am, bored, lonely, and with beautiful models that sit bored and lonely in my case.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

I know of two stores that have regular games.

EAC Games out in Maumee has games every Saturday with a college-ish group of guys. The store's smaller, but has a pretty good atmosphere.

The Game Room in Toledo itself has a lot bigger inventory, play area, and what I can best describe as 'professional' players. It can be a bit cutthroat, from what I've heard, but it is a lot bigger selection of people. I forget what days are normal 40k nights, but you can call and find out pretty easily.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the help. Just curious now how you know this stuff? That Maumee place sounds promising, but I tried Game Room and found a less than interesting genepool full of MTG players and two guys who had half-painted 40k armies. Not very challenging but nice guys. I beat them while drinking vodka through a McDonalds straw though. Where is the competition in this little crater of the moon I am stuck in?

I've lived out here a few years, and used to run the local college's gaming club.

The Game Room has a different crowd on different days of the week; I know I've wandered in there recently to see 40+ people playing 40k and Fantasy, so don't give up on it because of that one experience.

You can get in touch with the Olde World Warriors at the Game Room; I think that's on Wednesday nights, but don't quite me on that. They run an Adepticon qualifier every year, so they can probably point you in the direction of a more challenging match-up if that's what you're looking for.

The 40K crowd really picks up on Friday nights. The best players of the area have been going there more often as of late and will most likely be there this Friday. However, getting a game in with them may be a little difficult seeing as there is a lot of practice for AdeptiCon going on as of late. It would be good though to stop by and introduce yourself. I will be there that evening probably playing a 40K Team Tournament Game or Gladiator primer mission.

Nothing against the Maumee store, but it will not have the quality of players that you desire if you want a more challenging match-up.

Bump...

BTW, I'm in the Toledo area hoping to get some games in.

EAC no longer exists, as far as I know, the Game Room is one of two possible places. I know Hobby Town has tables, but I don't know about consistent players.

The one problem with the Game Room is that the owner suggested that if I want to get into a game, bring a modeling project, and some minis. Someone might see what I'm working on and ask if I brought mini's to play with, or just model with. I'm kind of on a restricted timeframe (with kids and work and such), so this doesn't work to well for me.

I think I can only do a small game on Saturdays. By small I'm thinking something from 500-750. I haven't read through all of the rules for 6th, so I would be learning as I go.

I wouldn't mind trying out a kill team game (200pt) or two, similar to what was posted on the GW website.
