Welcome to Dakka Dakka

Yep, you can make up your own chapter and use it. You're not forced to use the official chapters at all. You can also chose any of the Space Marine Codices to use with it, so you'll be able to have them pretty much match the play style you think up for them.

EDIT: That also goes for all the other armies too, you can make up your own one.

Yeah paint them any way you want. I have issues with colors (color blind ftw) so i sometimes paint even squads slightly different colors. i have learned to write down what colors i use from now, so yeah.

Yes! That's the best part about the hobby. You can map an army off an existing Codex, then call it whatever you want, write fluff, etc. If you use a specific SM Codex, you can make yourself a successor chapter. If you use the core (vanilla) SM Codex, you can make something new altogether.

Lets face it, by the sounds of things some of you people couldn't complete a game of snakes and ladders without running off to the internet to whine that snakes are broken and ladders are too powerful...-Hymirl

Pfft, Treadheads ! All the gear and no idea! You'll only end scattering and blow up a shrine to the God-Emprah!

When I made my armies when I got my first starter sets,
I made black and blue orks (clothes, not skin) with a red Paw Emblem. I cant think of a good name for them.

And then Black and white space marines with the red paw and red details. Still thinking of a name.

If your Chapter symbol is a paw then you could go for a Space Wolves successor theme. Give them a name that has something like Wolves/Russ/Fenris in it. Maybe Sons of Fenris or Heralds of Russ, that kind of thing. That would also mean you get to use some of the awesome new Space Wolves plastics. Otherwise there's always the random name generator, but it is a bit hit and miss - linky.

Thhis is quite a good article on starting your own Capter:

Well thats the thing. I like using wolf in most of the Armies or groups I make. I dont really like the look of the Space wolves though and dont want much to do with them. Idk Ill try the name gen. Ty for the link
