This past Saturday, Knightfall games held a three-round, 1500 point tournament.
Clicky Click for video & pics (my army is at the 2:32 mark).
Battle points were 5/5 for a tie, 7/3 for a solid win, 10/1 for a massacre, with up to four bonus points each round.
Sportsmanship points were 0/3/5 each round, with a 3 ostensibly representing a normal, decent game with no issues.
Painting points were 0/3/5 each round, with half of your army (by model count) fully painted earning a 3, a fully based & painted army earning a 5.
Prizes for Best General, Best Sportsman, and Best Overall, with the player coming in dead last getting his entry fee in store credit.
Fourteen players, of which there were 8 marines, 2 chaos marines, 2
IG, 1 Tyranid, and 1 Daemon (yours truly). I also counted ~75 vehicles in play.
My list:

Round One
This mission had one "treasure chest" placed 12" in from the center of each short edge and one "home base" placed 12" in from the center of each long table edge. Any non-vehicle unit could gain a "loot counter" by ending its turn in contact with a tresure chest. Bring the counters back to base to score. Bonus points for controlling each chest & base at the end.
My opponent, Ben, was running Vulkan & a thunderhammer squad in a redeemer, two pods full of
tac marines, one pod with a 5-man sternguard squad, and a rhino full of
tac marines.
High Points:
Ben won the roll and chose to go first. The redeemer and one pod full of
tac marines went for the eastern chest while the rhino and other pod full of
tac marines went for the one to the west. On my turn, both grinders dropped between the chests and his base, the flamers dropped at each treasure chest (with Ku'Gath backing up in the west). Between breath of chaos & tongue, he lost the redeemer, one of the pods, and all but three of the
tac marines. Everything went downhill for him from there.
Result: Solid win for the Iron Pact. 7
BP. This win was a bit infuriating, as I would have had a massacre with full battle points... had my opponent not rolled a 1 to see if there would be a turn 6. I finished with two counters to none, but four more counter-carrying units within 8" of my objective. This would come back to haunt me at the end. Still, it was a great opponent & a wildly entertaining game.
Round Two
This mission was called "King of the Hill," with victory awarded to whoever had the most scoring units within 6" of the center of the table. Massacre for taking the center with no enemy scoring units in range (which was a bit odd, since 5 units to 4 would only net you a solid victory, while 1 to 0 would net a massacre) Bonus points for having units in hand-to-hand at the objective at the end of the game.
My opponent was Ty (My tournament nemesis at KFG. We
always meet in the second round, I
never get my preferred wave, and it seems to always end in either a draw or minor loss for me). He was running vanilla marines and brought a captain /honor guard in a rhino, three twin-las razorbacks with 5 marines each, two dakka-preds, two squadrons of two typhoons and one squadron of two speeders with multimeltas.
High Points:
Ty won the roll, had me go first, and put everything in reserves. We were playing on the cityfight table, which combined with the mission to make one central Alley of Death. As always, my preferred wave gave me the finger and left me starting with all three troops and the flamers. The entire battle became one hell of a meatgrinder, with immobilized or wrecked tanks & grinders boxing in the central killing zone. As the top of turn 5, I had two scoring units to his one...until he managed to score 16 frag missile hits on the unit of horrors hiding in the ruins. Even a 3+ go to ground ain't much help against that.
Result: At the end of turn seven the only models within 6" of the objective were one tactical marine and the Changeling. No bonus points for either of us. 5
BP
Round Three:
This mission had us each trying to get as many units as possible into each others' deployment zone (pitched battle with 12" lopped off each end). Bonus points for either each own unit within 12" of an opponent unit in the DZ, or for each unit in the opponent DZ if your opponent is tabled.
My opponent was a guy named Calvin who was running Pedro with 10 marines in a Redeemer, a Melta Dred in a pod, two dakka predators, a rhino full of
tac marines, and a pod full of sternguard. Calvin was a very fun opponent who has only been playing
40k for about two months--though he's managed to assemble and paint 2000+ points of marines in that time(!).
High Points: I felt kind of bad about this round, as Calvin was both new and had never played against Chaos Daemons before. To his credit, he still really seemed to enjoy the game, even though I tabled him by the end of turn four. MVP's of the match were my 'traditional' soulgrinder--who was 2-0 on destroying
LRR's in the first turn--and one of his drop pods, which managed to take three (!) fiends with it when it exploded.
Result: Massacre, full bonus. 14
BP
At the end of the day, I took Best General (scoring the Imperial Sector for my table at home). Best Overall went to a Ravenguard player, who was only three or four points ahead of me. If only I'd had a turn 6 in the first round! Curse you, 1d6!
Whining aside, it was a fantastic tournament. Only three of the armies weren't completely painted, no ugliness (that I heard of, anyway), and free donuts & bagels.
