Khorne Chosen Marine Riding a Juggernaut
Breaking Something Valuable
|
Hey all,
This is a report for a thousand point game my friend and I played, him with his orks, me, the Wolves. So, lets begin... (Sorry, no pics!)
Wolves:
Rune preist, runic armor, COTS, wolftooth necklace
GH pack (10 man) 2 meltaguns, standard, Motw
GH pack (Same) with 2 flamers instaed
Dreadnoght: HF, MM, DP
Scouts: meltagun
Vindicator: seige shield
WG pack: 3 combi meltas, 3 PF
Ork list: (made out of 2 black reach boxes)
2 warbosses, 2 powerclaws, 2 shootas
20 boys, 2 big shoootas
20 boys, same
10 nobs
3 defkoptas, all w/ TLRL
3 defkoptas, all w/ TLRL
Deff dread, burna, kustom mega blasta
We roll capture and control, and table halves. I win the roll off, and go first. I place my objective behind a raised lake, he pus his on a temple that takes one tunr of movement to climb.
Deployment: I deploy one GH squad on the lake, holding the objective, vindicator behind some cover, and second squad of GH w/ runepriest ready to attack the objective.
He deploys his nobs on the objective (actually his biggest mistake), 2 boy squads with warbasses in the middle of his zone, ready to rush out. his deff dread and 3 koptas are placed to stop the moving grey hunters, and the other 3 against the vindi, moving with scouts towards us.
Turn 1:
GH pack surges forward, letting out a mighty yell, and the priest zaps at a deffkopta, only with one LL shot. it doesn't wound. Sigh.
meanwhile, the dreadnought has droppodded in next to the other deffkoptas, zapping one with the multi melta, while the vindi moves into range and blows the remaining two away! with nothing left to shoot and nothing in assault range, I end my turn.
The def dread moves, and frys a GH. awww. the deffkoptas open fire, but all miss. typical orks. the warbossees and co run down the field, one at the GH, one at the dreadnought. Roaring and screaming, they stop 10 inches from the dread. he ends his turn.
Turn 2: Scouts sneak in and kill a boy with their meltagun. the grey hunters again open fire at the defkoptas, killing one, and assault, wiping them out. The dreadnought fires upon the approachind ork menace, as does the vindicator, killing of nearly half the squad. Take that, greenskins! realizing that he is doomed, the dreadnought rushes into combat, but can't get the warboss, who rips him apart after he kills a few boys. the warboss and friends consolidate towards the droppod.
the greeen tide continues to advance, athough pausing to fire at the scouts, and with a miracle from the dice gods, kill none. the dread again fires, dropping another hunter. the warboss nearst the vindi pauses, squints, then decides not to waste time on the droppod. smart move!
Turn three: The hunters get their revenge, blowing apart the deffdread. unfortunately, they see the greenskins coming closer...
The vindi fires again, hoping to help the GH by wiping out the warboss, my bud just kills off a few boys. 8, actually. the scouts keep moving to clear the nobs offf the objective, pausing to kill a boy. nothing left to do, i finish.
WAAAGH! the warbosses launch attacks on the GHs adn vindi, ripping the cannon off. However, the orks have met their match in the grey hunters, who counter attack, pop the banner and kill off the unit, though they sustain heavy casualties.
Turn four: the scouts and hunters move towards the objective, pausing outside, hoping to get a turn of shooting in. thi is the turning point: the vindicator attempts a tnak shot on the boys and warboss, who fail the test! (mob rule doesn't work, only 8 boys and the warboss left) they fall back.
Filled with dash, the nobs charge down, adn shred the grey hunters down to the rune preist and the wolf guard, and take five and 1/2 casualties- the grey hunters actually win combat!
turn five: the scouts join the combat, and more nobs and scouts die.
the warboss and co fall back, almost leaving the table. the nobs finish up, dying off after killing all but one scout and wolf guard.
Turn six: claim the objective!
turn seven: the warboss and co leave th table and die.
I win 2 objectives -0.
Conclusion: Actually, it was a really close game. I learned to never let nobs into CC, and my opponent learned that the vindi is the bane of ork kind! Most importantly, it was almost a draw untill the tank shock, and most of our battles have been decisive, omne way or the other!
I congratulate all ork players for the fact that it seems orks are the most fun army to play- both with and against!
Whew! that's a lot of writing. how do think I did for my first report?
