Here's the situation. I go to Friend #1's place and we play dawn of war online. I'm connected to his network via the wireless capabilities on my laptop. We call up friend #2 to log on (remotely from his own place) to join us. For some reason Friend #2 and myself can't be in the same game... either Friend #1 and #2 can join a game or Friend #1 and myself can join a game. I thought maybe it was something to do with ports but Windows Firewall allows Dark Crusade through... plus Friend #1 has the ports opened up on his router... but I wouldn't think it was a port problem if I'm able to play online. The funny thing is we don't have this problem when I play from home from my desktop.

Is the problem that I'm already within the same network as one of my friends?

My google-fu has come up with nothing.

Are you sure you're actually playing an Internet game and not a LAN game?

Yes its internet... not LAN.

When we start multiplayer on DoW we choose 'Online'. Plus we can join with other people in different games. It just seems that Friend #2 and myself can't be in the same game.

BTW its been hella long since I played on a LAN... usually my friends and I play on services like Battle.net or we utilize the game's online community to play... even if we're in the same building. We're so lazy to set up a LAN now a days.

No clue then. It almost sounds like it's an authentication issue, or your friend just is incompetent at joining

I've opened up some other ports on my laptop... hopefully tonight we won't have a problem. I'll let you folks know how it goes.

Only played with one friend last night so not sure if the port thing fixed anything.
