Rising Empire

Within the central library of Apeldoorn (The Netherlands) the sound of laughter and dice rises. This is the sound of Rising Empire, a dutch wargaming club. Having fun with friends while painting and playing Warhammer, Warhammer 40.000, that is our motto.

We have about 30 members, which are between 13 and 25 years old. Watched over by a few more experienced players, or how we call them: The Inner Circle. Consisting of 4 guys, we teach the new players how to paint and how to play. As we have a lot of new and inexperienced players our priority lies in developing their painting and playing skills.

The centre of the club lies in Apeldoorn however our members come from a lot of different places like: Deventer, Nijmegen, Zwolle and a lot of small villages around Apeldoorn.

The inner circle organizes tournaments and painting contest like:
- Speed painting
- Conversion contests
- Border patrol and larger tournaments
- A painting campaign (Tale of gamers)
- The Golden Goblin.

The Golden Goblin is our local version of the golden daemon. Every 3 months we let visitors of the library vote on our models. This way we hope to interest more people in the hobby, and expend the club even further.
Also we try to inspire our members to be creative with the goblin gladiator conversion contest. For this contest we gave our members a lot of cool bits, and the objective of building a cool goblin gladiator. When the conversions are done we play a mini gladiator campaign with the goblins.
To motivate new players to paint their armies, we are currently busy with our paint campaign. In 6 months, 8 fantasy and 4 40k players are going to paint an legal army of 1000 points. After those 6 months there is a tournament in which you can only use the models you have painted in the 6 months. This means that if you have only painted 650 points of models, you must play with only 650 points against 1000 points.
